Sorry FB made it grainy!!
Yall….. when I picked this horse up it took me 30 minutes if not longer to load him. We finally corralled him up and pushed him onto the trailer. He would get withing 20 feet and rear, spin and bolt. As his owner calls it; his signature move.
This is 10 days into his training. I have not loaded him since he got here, I have not attempted. I went to the roundpen and found all the boogers, holes, gaps whatever you might call it. He had a few cracks that I guarantee a trainer without a equine psychology background would not have found. I slowly but surely fixed them with him. Ive been riding and doing day to day work with him but also correcting small behavioral issues before they become a big one.
10 days later I walked him to the trailer and asked him to step up, I saw the expression of explosion on his face. He was about to pull out his moves. I backed his front feet off and sent him right back in with a stronger more reassuring cue. What did he do? He said Yes Ma’am! He turned as if he wanted to bolt out, but I was there to cue him to stand before he could think it all the way through. I then backed him a few steps….. waited on him to relax and put him up.
Why did I put him up after a 10 minute training session? We just overcame his largest issue….. trailer loading? NO! His rear, spin, bolt!!! He gave me his best, he did as I asked. Its so important to not “overtrain” or “overwork” your horses. Know when to reward, stop or keep moving.
Hey Yall due to our previous winner not reaching out to us we have chosen a new winner!
Ansley Campbell is your new Winner for TWO FREE LESSONS!
Our page would not let us tag her, so PLEASE if you are able to tag her do so.
Chloey has done a GREAT job on this pony. This is about 40 rides in and she is so very soft and quiet. She will cross anything. She has a solid WTC and is trotting circles, doing turn backs and learning to side pass. Not bad at all for Chloey’s first one to start from the ground up.
We will be doing a christmas pony special and offering discounted rates for christmas pony training this year! Get your little a pony they can learn and grow on!!!
Are your horses tractor trailer broke? Ours sure are here at Harris Farms. This here is a client horse Tucker who has nearly completed 30 days and will go home soon!
