During one movie, there was a little goat on the set. The owner said hurry up and finish your scene because Sunday is my nephew's communion and we have to cook it on the grill! I bought the animal and tied it with a rope and brought it to the five-star hotel. I took it up to my room, what a scandal! That day I decided to leave the cinema and help the animals. It was June 1973, I was 38 years old. 🐾🕊️❤️

Hi Everyone! I'm Marcella, owner and baker here at Chez du Barry. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share the inspiration behind my little boulangerie, Chez du Barry.

During my 20’s, I spent several years living in Europe and I fell in love…with bread! Seriously, I consumed more baguettes and croissants during that time than I care to admit. Every time I walked into a boulangerie, I was like a kid in a candy store; I couldn’t believe that these beautiful breads and pastries were available on every corner.

When I returned to the US, I couldn’t find good bread anywhere so I started making my own. What started as a hobby, quickly turned into a bit of an obsession. I read every book I could get my hands on, started experimenting with different types of flours, took a few classes, and baked a lot of bread. I soon realized that I loved baking bread as much as I loved eating it; but what truly brings me joy is sharing bread with others and I can’t wait to share it with you!
