In response to the local and national news stories of the mystery canine infectious respiratory disease outbreak, here is what we know: 1) We have seen stubborn cases of respiratory infections since summer of 2023. 2). Most cases are mild. 3) Most cases are from dogs exposed at doggy daycares, dog parks, or boarding facilities that let dogs have group play. 4) Most cases can be handled with simple medications 4). Some cases cause the dogs to cough for several weeks. 5). Any dog suspected of a contagious sickness in our clinic is examined in a separate exam area away from other dogs and not allowed in the lobby. 6) most cases we do not have to examine if the dog is eating and not lethargic.

Our advice: 1) avoid doggy daycares and dog parks. 2). If your dog is exposed keep them home for 2 weeks. 3). If your dog is showing signs of upper respiratory infection (sneezing, nasal congestion, coughing ) please call us for further direction.

We are wrapping up Vet Tech Appreciation Week, and I am just now making a post because it has been a crazy week. Almost every week is a crazy week in the veterinary field, but I try my best to make every week Vet Tech Appreciation Week (although I probably fail some weeks). I wouldn’t have the clinic that I have without them. My work family is packed full of amazing and gifted humans. Thank you 💛🐾

Our hearts are broken tonight. Our clinic cat Nova crossed the rainbow bridge after a long battle with cancer. He was 14 years old. Jamie and I rescued Nova in 2012. He was such a huge part of the clinic and we will be so sad to face each day without him. I think he filled a different part of our hearts in different ways. I know he filled mine with comfort and companionship during the very scary and stressful early days of the clinic. I am convinced he was sent to me during this time for a reason. Each stage of his life and “career” as the official clinic cat/greeter/supervisor/front desk/therapist he grabbed on to so many people’s hearts. He was one of those cats that could read your mind and sometimes use that to manipulate you to his advantage 😂. But he mostly used that superpower for good. We will miss you Nova and your baby blue eyes that made everyone instantly fall in love. 🩵

We will be closing for the day. We have no power and our appointments have all wanted to reschedule. We will hopefully get power back on and be up and running tomorrow. We had significant storm damage just a few blocks away, we are thankful we are all ok. Stay safe everyone, stay tuned for updates.
