Humans brush their teeth at least once a day🦷We visit our dentist 2 times a year to have our teeth cleaned✨Easy Peasy.
Most pets do not receive this kind of care so it is not a simple cleaning like when we humans go to the dentist. The fancy name is COHAT-the acronym for Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment .
The procedure is so much more than just a cleaning.
📌Patients have bloodwork performed
📌Patient will be placed under general anesthesia
📌X-rays are performed on every tooth-tip to root(s)
📌Teeth & surrounding tissues are probed/measured for disease
📌Under the gum line irrigation, evaluation and treatment
📌Teeth are cleaned and polished
📌Possible extractions if warranted

Cuterebra Removal from a 6 pound Yorkie

Not as impressive as the previous video, but we had our own cuterebra case walk in this afternoon! Patient presented with a dime sized bleeding lump on his side. The area was clipped and prepped. The patient was adminstered a local anesthetic block, and the larva was removed. ENJOY!

Tried asking Ferris what he thinks of his Doc & Phoebes hunter feeding system, but he’s not talking . Both cats are doing well and really seem to enjoy engaging their predator instincts to eat. #cliniccatchallenge
