One month ago on this day a devastating Tornado hit western Kentucky, killing 78 and forever changing the lives of thousands. Seeing the footage and hearing the stories of the lives uprooted just before the holidays left me compelled. As an artist I wanted to help out in my own way. This sculpture was carved from ash with those affected in mind. Like and Share this post and your name will be entered to win this one of a kind piece. Quaking Aspen cuts like butter, and is known to grow up tall and fast then fall over. The name quaking comes from the quaking sound the hard jagged leaves make when the wind blows. If you're looking to try wood sculpture and don't want to break your back shoving a chainsaw through a rock hard piece of wood, try to locate some of this stuff. It is readily available and easy to carve.

If you've spent much time walking the woods and thickets of rural Ohio you know what this is. The explosive sound these elusive birds make as you stumble onto them is sure to interrupt a tranquil hike. The Ruffed Grouse is like the farm chicken's crazy eccentric cousin that never could be tamed. These birds are the creme del la creme in table fare and extremely difficult to raise in captivity. Unfortunately as of 2018 their populations in Ohio are at record lows. Populations have been declining in the Midwest through the years due to West Nile, lack of forestry, and unusual weather patterns. Amidst the Ruffed Grouse's gloomy predicament, it's nice to use art for informing and sharing a love of these flying footballs.♥️

It's been a long week. Here's some art for your pleasure. Made from black walnut, It's always interesting to see how the grain is unique to every piece. This was carved from section of tree that branched into a Y shape, giving it that swirly grain around the nose. Share me!

Just finished this Shovelhead catfish stalking it's prey. It's carved from ash, finished with danish oil and laquer. I just love how that ash finishes up. It's on it's way to Iowa to make someone a beautiful centerpiece. I'm sure it will spark conversation with geusts for years to come♥♥

Feeeww!! was this ever hard, way out of my comfort zone. I have a new found respect for cabinet builders. This custom bathroom vanity is built from all hardwood, not a single manufactured wood product in here. Alder build with walnut slabs under the towel baskets. True Half blind dovetailing on drawer fronts♥and standards in rear, all hand sawn. Finished with Danish oil and soft closes. Message me if you're interested in having similar builds done for your home.

Hickory makes me hott. Checking surface moisture

Had fun making these custom stools. All natural red maple, utilized those twists knots and specks to give them that spunk. Matte finish😁
