Faithful Friends is a division of Grace Funeral & Cremation Services. We treat your companion animal with compassion, care and dignity.

We offer private pet cremation services, as well as a wide selection of memorial keepsakes, cremation jewelry, pet monuments, and remembrance items. Each pet is handled with loving care, provided a unique identification number and transported to the crematory in a dignified and humane manner. As funeral service professionals, we understand that your pet is a member of your family and we treat them as such. We are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year to assist you with your needs.

Meet Kristan McNames, Founder & Owner of Faithful Friends Pet Funeral & Cremation!

Kristan McNames graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor Degree in Mortuary Science and Funeral Service, and has 25 years of experience in the profession. She is a resident of Loves Park, where she lives with her three boys; Nate, Gabe, and Eli, cats Thunderbug, Sherman, Cheddar and an English Labrador who is a comfort dog in training at the funeral home.

When she’s not a work, Kristan enjoys spending time with her boys and her best friends. She also loves practicing yoga, attending Pilates classes, reading, embroidery, camping and sampling whiskey.

Although its soooo tempting to give your pet a little treat from the table, maintaining a healthy weight can prevent strain on their joints and organs, making their quality of life better and longevity of life longer. Keep the treats as just that, a treat, and you should be just fine!

Do you wonder how to help a friend, relative, or loved one through losing their pet? We are sharing some of our favorite tips like this one:

Ask how you can help.

Be willing to take over as many simple tasks as possible. Even small jobs can add to the stress of a grieving person. Be willing to take the initiative; many people have trouble accepting help when it's offered. You may need to simply tell them what task you are doing on their behalf, and then do it.

Tips to keep your furry friends safe of this Fourth of July:

✅ keep pets indoors during fireworks to reduce stress and prevent them from running away or getting lost.
✅ create a quiet space indoors where they can feel safe from the loud noise.
✅ ensure your pet has proper, updated identification in case they get out.
✅ avoid feeding table scraps as cookouts and parties have a higher chance of pets choking or eating things they’re not supposed to.

We are sharing a few tips we have learned over the years that might help you comfort your friend or loved one after they’ve lost a pet. Here is one of our favorites:

Let the bereaved one talk about how their pet died.

People who are grieving may need to tell the story over and over again, sometimes in minute detail. Be patient. Repeating the story is a way of processing and accepting the death. With each retelling, the pain lessens.
