🐾 Did you know we’re now implementing play groups for dogs at WCAS? 🐾
Here you’ll see one of our playgroups in action.
👉Based on the Dogs Playing for Life model, each playgroup varies based on the dogs needs. This is the best way for our dogs to socialize with one another and exercise while our WCAS! This helps them learn communication skills with their canine friends and gives them an opportunity to just be a dog. Staff takes notes to get a better idea of their unique traits. We are able to get to know dogs so much better seeing them playing!
👉Check out one of our senior girls, Sophie getting one of our younger dogs, Peppa to break out of her shell and play!
👉Play groups, however, aren't possible without volunteer assistance. Our volunteers run dogs from the kennels to the play group session and vice versa. They keep the sessions running smoothly and ensure that a large number of dogs get the chance to hang out in the play group. Volunteers play such an important role in our playgroups and we can't thank our dedicated volunteers enough! Visit our volunteer application online at winnebagoanimals.org to get started helping us with morning playgroups too.

🐾 Oden (mostly black) and Max (tan and brindle) enjoyed their playdate despite the cold weather today! 🐾
🐾 Max is roughly 9 months old and has so much room to grow. Max was brought to WCAS when his owner passed away. This sweet guy has already mastered "sit" and is eager to learn more. Max's favorite toy would have to be a tennis ball. He could chase them all day long. After a long day of chasing tennis balls or playing with dog friends out in the yard, he prefers to spend the night snuggled up with his people.
🐾 Oden is a 1-year-old Husky/ Pointer mix. He does know how to sit and stay, but he has a lot of energy and he prefers to run! He has lived with cats and said to have loved them. We have also introduced him to canine friends and he has done well with them too! We believe Oden would do well with a family with older children. We don't anticipate him being here very long! Does this sweet boy sound like a good match for you and yours?

He has been working very hard on keeping all four paws on the ground, but sometimes he still forgets. He has already mastered "sit" with a lure and is eager to learn more.

📞📠🖇Meet our Office Cat, Belle!🖇📠📞
Belle came to WCAS in late November and was owner surrendered due to her owner siting that they no longer had the means to properly care for her.
When Belle was first with us she was scared and unsure of her new surroundings… shelter life was a huge adjustment for her! Realizing this, we decided it would best for her to have some extra space and quality human time in our Veterinarian’s office!
Belle quickly opened up thanks to her new surroundings! Belle LOVES to play and loves to help with any task being performed by her human! This once seemingly shy and hesitant cat has officially been deemed a lap cat!
We hope Belle can be a reminder to not overlook the shy or scared cats available for adoption. If this can happen in a shelter environment just imagine what patience, love, and understanding could do for a cat in a home!
If you're interested in adopting, visit our website and complete an adoption questionnaire. www.WinnebagoAnimals.org
