Winnebago County Animal Services focuses on rabies control, pet population control, animal bite reports, pet adoption and fostering, lost and found animals, and state and local animal ordinance enforcement. Rabies control is accomplished through pet registration and education and enforcement of rabies vaccination. To help further control the pet population, WCAS offers a year-round spay and neuter

assistance program for qualified low-income individuals. We also focus on adoption services to help our furry friends find happy, healthy homes! Please, visit our shelter and find your new best friend! Terms of Service:

‼🎉ADOPTION UPDATE!🎉‼

❤Remember Bongo???❤
Bongo came to us as a stray in early-August of this year and was never reclaimed by an owner. Bongo was hopeful that he would be adopted, but after two months in our care, Bongo was one of our shelter's longest staying residents and became a member of our Lonely Hearts Club. However, after a little over three months at our facility, the perfect family for Bongo visited WCAS and Bongo won their hearts!

Bongo's adopter shared these great photos and this wonderful update with us-
🐾Hello. Just sending an update for Bongo. He was a lonely hearts adoption and he is the best sweetest dog and very smart ❤️ And the staff and volunteers were great and such a big help. Staff took the time for a long meet and greet and then there was a volunteer when we went back the next day who was great as well. Thank you for all you guys do to get these babies in their perfect match homes. We needed him just as much as he needed us ! he is definitely living his best life 🙂!🐾

UPDATE: Gilbert is back home!

LOST PIG 🐽 🐷 🐖❗️

Someone’s lost! This happy pig was found on the 6000 block of s Mulford Rd in Cherry Valley, IL.

We believe this a Kune Kune Pig. He was found hanging out in a manure pile near a shed of a kind women. She called WCAS not knowing where he belongs and to het him help. This pig is very friendly and walked right up to our officers.
We think someone has to be missing him!

♊️ 6 year old Gemini is seeking her perfect partner! ♊️

Gemini was brought to WCAS when she was found wandering and hopped into a kind gentleman's truck on HWY 20.
Like most Geminis this husky mix is an extrovert!

🎉🎉 Last week, Winnebago County Animal Services helped 50 pets find adoptive families! This included 42 cats and 8 dogs🎉🎉

Our Fall for a Feline Adoption Event was a huge success in helping us find homes for over 40 cats and kittens!

We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to our volunteers who assisted with adoptions and all those who took part in the event by adopting!

“Nothing like a spa day to lift a girl’s spirits! Peony and Ella got the pampered pet treatment over the weekend, and boy did they enjoy themselves!

Peony is an 11 month old Pit Mix who came to us as a stray and was sadly not reclaimed. She is a petite little girl weighing 33 pounds. She will need a little basic training in her new home, but she’s a smart cookie who is eager to please!

Ella is a 6 year old Husky also came to us as a stray and was not reclaimed. Ella is a talkative lady who understands that her beautiful coat requires a bit of upkeep. She sits so pretty when getting brushed! But maybe do it outside because she loves to throw in the some cute zoomies in between brushes!”

Today's pawffice assistant, Skelly, is enjoying his day of getting pets, playing with toys, and hanging around behind the desk and keeping employees company!

He would like to invite you to come meet her and her friends at WCAS!
5 year old Skelly was brought in to WCAS about a month ago from a kind citizen when he was found wandering by himself. He is a well mannered guy who loves playing with toys, taking naps, and leaning into a good pet. At 40 pounds he is a great size and if Skelly could talk, he would say he is a lap dog!
