Summer is a wonderful time to be outdoors with your pets. However, it's crucial to keep an eye on your pet's exposure to high temperatures. Heat exhaustion and heatstroke can be life-threatening.

RVC said “ see ya later” to one of our own this week. As many of you know, Carmen “worked” carrying charts and bringing smiles to clients and their pets alike.
She was everyone’s friend and in our opinion “The Best Dog In The World”.
It won’t be the same here without our girl.💔🐾🌈

Ziggy has seemed so sad lately, and our hearts are heavy tonight knowing he is struggling.

We had our weekly meeting today, and our adoptable senior boy Ziggy joined us.

Usually, Ziggy is tap dancing all around us for our snacks, or standing right on the desk looking out the window. But today, he never got up. Today, Ziggy just slept. That is what having no family and no home of your own for one year will do.

Our staff member Tricia brings Ziggy to her office every day so he doesn’t have to sit in his kennel all day. He’s an old man, and the kennel is tough on him.

“He’s really not himself today,” Tricia said during our meeting.

And he wasn’t. He’s losing his spirit and s***k after calling the shelter home for so long. Though he is our office dog, it still isn’t a home.

Embark DNA tests showed this senior guy is the father and grandfather to many of our “Fish” dogs from last summer. Ziggy and the Fish dogs came from a home with 170+ other animals. He is the only one left at our site.

How sad is that? Out of all the people in the world, not one person wants him.

We have to do better.

Ziggy is a quirky guy at 10 years old and bonds quickly and fiercely to those he loves. He does way better with women and would thrive in a home without a lot of hustle and bustle. He needs a home with adults who will go slow with him.

We hope someone sees him and comes to help an old dog we all love. He needs a patient, devoted owner who won’t give up on him as he adjusts and navigates a new home.

Zig needs someone who will give him their all because that’s what he deserves.

We could use a win here, and we hope we get one for Ziggy.

Butterscotch, affectionately known as Butters is seeking a new furever home.
He has kitty siblings at home, and though he is not being bullied, Butters decided he'd rather be an only cat. His owners have tried to make him comfortable, but he prefers the safety of one room.
They have made the difficult decision to try and find a new home for Butters where he can get ALL the love.
Butters does prefer to be the only cat ( unsure of his feelings about dogs.)

Adopt a Senior
Don’t think about the length of time they’ll be with you .. think of the love and happiness you can give to them .. and the love they will give to you♥️🐾

When walking by her kennel, it's hard not to think one thing- "Poor Parsnip".

For over a year, Parsnip has lived at our shelter. She greets every person she meets with the sweetest meows and purrs as soon as gentle hand starts petting her. She will sit in a lap for hours, simply enjoying the company.

But, sadly, Parsnip doesn't have much interest. So she waits.

Being almost 14 years old, she expectedly comes with senior woes. Her coat may not be the most well-kept and she can drool an impressive amount. She sometimes gets a stuffy nose and needs a special diet to keep her GI tract moving smoothly.

But despite it all, her heart is so big. If only someone would take the chance to see it.

UPDATE - Bailey has been adopted!

Do you love to play? I sure do! My name is Bailey and I love to play with all kinds of toys. I’m great with kids and I love attention. I’m so smart that I know how to push doors open and I like to run. I like to chase cats so I wouldn’t do well with them and I haven’t been around other dogs. I’m surprised I haven’t found a home yet as I’m housebroken and everyone says I’m a great dog. Do you have an energetic family that would love to play with this 7 year old Labrador Retriever mix?
