Ziggy has seemed so sad lately, and our hearts are heavy tonight knowing he is struggling.
We had our weekly meeting today, and our adoptable senior boy Ziggy joined us.
Usually, Ziggy is tap dancing all around us for our snacks, or standing right on the desk looking out the window. But today, he never got up. Today, Ziggy just slept. That is what having no family and no home of your own for one year will do.
Our staff member Tricia brings Ziggy to her office every day so he doesnโt have to sit in his kennel all day. Heโs an old man, and the kennel is tough on him.
โHeโs really not himself today,โ Tricia said during our meeting.
And he wasnโt. Heโs losing his spirit and s***k after calling the shelter home for so long. Though he is our office dog, it still isnโt a home.
Embark DNA tests showed this senior guy is the father and grandfather to many of our โFishโ dogs from last summer. Ziggy and the Fish dogs came from a home with 170+ other animals. He is the only one left at our site.
How sad is that? Out of all the people in the world, not one person wants him.
We have to do better.
Ziggy is a quirky guy at 10 years old and bonds quickly and fiercely to those he loves. He does way better with women and would thrive in a home without a lot of hustle and bustle. He needs a home with adults who will go slow with him.
We hope someone sees him and comes to help an old dog we all love. He needs a patient, devoted owner who wonโt give up on him as he adjusts and navigates a new home.
Zig needs someone who will give him their all because thatโs what he deserves.
We could use a win here, and we hope we get one for Ziggy.
