Northwest Naturals has issued a recall of a line of cat food after a cat was infected with a bird flu strain linked to their product.

Sadly sweet Lyric has passed away. Some of you had the chance to meet her at our Senior Adoption Event with City of Elderly Love. Please keep her foster family in your thoughts and prayers..

Yesterday we unexpectedly said goodbye to Lyric. 💔

Lyric had been showing some concerning neurological symptoms over the last couple weeks along with some chronic GI troubles which left her with no appetite. Thankfully, squeezed her in for some diagnostics. She received both an ultrasound and an MRI which showed that Lyric had chronic GI disease as well as a sizable brain tumor. Knowing she would continue to decline and probably quickly, we knew the kindest thing we could do was to let her go while she was still under anesthesia.

We can’t thank her foster Mishana and her family enough for saving Lyric from animal control in September where she was timestamped for euthanasia and making her last few months really amazing. Lyric went hiking, explored South Philly, attended OutFest, took 521 naps, and so much more.

Dwight has been drafted as one of Santa's Elves and would like to say thank you to everyone that has donated to our Pet Food/Supply drive.
Donations for small animals/birds can also be used.

Unsure of what to give? Our rescue partners will use gift cards as well.

We are accepting donations through 12/20 to support area pets in need.

Do not forget about the BISSEL HOLIDAY HOPE EVENT @ the MCSPCA on Saturday December 14th!
Kris & Kringle are two DLH siblings that arrived as strays in poor condition. They were too young to be away from mom, underweight and ill. The MCSPCA provided them with much needed veterinary care, and they are now healthy and thriving. They are looking for indoor homes where they will be loved & cherished for the rest of their lives. While in our care they have been neutered, received age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and FELV/FIV tested negative. All they need now is some hope & a home!
Kris & Kringle are housed at our Perkiomenville shelter located @ 1059 Sweisford Rd. Perkiomenville, Pa 18074

In fact, we think he’d thrive in a home with canine companions, as he came from a multi-dog environment and lights up when he encounters dogs on walks. MEET MILO!
This petite little Shih Tzu is named Milo! He was surrendered to City of Elderly Love due to his former owner's health troubles. We're happy to have helped Milo bypass the scary shelter and he's now ready to land a forever home where he can live his best life!

Milo is around 9 years old and has great energy! He bounces around in delight when you get home from work or when he knows it's time to go for a walk. Its rare that you don't see Milo's adorable little tongue poking out of his mouth, both when he's awake and asleep! Milo is a total shadow dog and really bonds with "his person". He'll follow you around the house just to see what you're up to, snuggle up on the couch with you, and be the very best (sometimes opinionated) passenger while running errands. Milo does well with cats and his previous owner reported that he liked other dogs though he isn't currently living with any. We recommend an appropriate introduction and decompression time for all of our newly fostered/adopted pets.

Milo, not unlike other small dogs, does have a bigger personality and can be a bit stubborn. We'd grade him at like a 5 on the 1-10 spiciness scale. When he doesn't want to do something or isn't in the mood to get up, he may nip at you to go away. He also tends to be protective of his high value treats and toys. We do expect a little spiciness to subside once he is neutered and has his painful teeth addressed. He tends to be a bit cranky at vet visits and does better when he's given meds to relax ahead of time. Because of this, we don't recommend he live with kids and he should be adopted by someone who isn't deterred by a mildly-spicy small dog 'tude and can provide him some structure.

Milo is available for foster or adoption through City of Elderly Love. He has received a veterinary workup and is scheduled for a dental and neuter in mid-December (covered by the rescue).
