Section 821.021 Definitions
(3) "Owner" includes a person who owns or has custody or control of an animal

Legal Definition of Custody
Custody is the state of physically holding or controlling a person or piece of property , or of having the right to do so. A person who has custody over property or another person often has affirmative duties to protect and care for those in their charge.

Aransas County Orders Definition Of Owner

Section 2.5 Animal Owner. Any person(s), partnership, corporation, association, or legal entity that owns, keeps, or has custody or control of an animal for a period of three (3) days or more, including the person(s), partnership, corporation, association, or legal entity in control or having custody of, or feeding or harboring such animals.

City of Rockport Ordinances

Chapter 18
Sub chapter 26

Owner - means any person, who has a right of property in an animal, or who keeps an animal in his care, harbors an animal, acts as custodian for an animal, or who permits an animal to remain on or about his premises. An animal is harbored if it is fed or sheltered.

Town of Fulton Ordinances

Owner means any person, firm or corporation who has right of property in an animal or who harbors an animal or allows an animal to remain about his premises for a period of ten (10) days.

Harboring means the act of keeping and caring for an animal or of providing a premises to which the animal returns for food, shelter or care for a period of ten (10) days.

We are posting these to explain the Importance of reporting a loose animal the moment you see them. We will try to locate an owner. If no owner is found then we do request for the finder to fill out our finder form. If finder doesn’t want our help and deny us to pick up the animal. Then an owner responsibility form will be issued as well.

It’s very important for the animals safety and public safety to report these animals. If you do not want to be held responsible, report that animal within the three days if not immediately.

Due to inclement weather we will be expecting tomorrow Tuesday January 21, 2025. Aransas County Animal Care Services will be closed. We will still have our 24 hour on call officer for emergency services. Thank you and please keep your animals and family warm.

Update: Denim whose real name is Gino found his missing family. He’s been missing for a little while. His family is so happy to have him home.

Do you recognize me? Found out near Kingfish in Holiday beach. Suspected upper respiratory but upon further examination the vet believes kitty was hit by a car or could have fallen out of somones car engine, trailer or truck. Very sweet neutered male. He could have come from anywhere in the county if he was traveling by vehicle and fell out. Please call us on Tuesday if this could be your baby. Currently with a rescue taking care of him.

With the coming cold weather approaching, us this week we wanted to let everyone know that its best to bring in your pets inside to keep them warm and safe. If you are unable to you must provide them with a proper shelter and a way for them to get out of the elements.
