Urgent

Rockville,MD DC area..these two cats are to be turned out...

Adopter does not want them anymore..and rescue cannot get them back due to travel restrictions.

Pepper (long-haired) and Molly (calico). She says it's very urgent and she will put them outside if nobody is able to help. I don't understand people.

I rescued this 17 yr QH mare.."Liberty Belle" from a horrendous kill pen in North Carolina. Three horses have dropped dead from the conditions at the kill pen. Belle is going thru quarantine. She is slowly relaxing. She will be available for adoption after quarantine.

Need a foster home in Maryland in order to save:
Bella is a 7 year old mixed breed, approximately 54lbs, who came to us after her owner could no longer care for her. Her previous owner described Bella as sweet, and reported that she got along well with children and other dogs, but had no exposure to cats. In 2017, Bella was involved in an incident where she bit both another dog and a human. We unfortunately don’t have further details regarding what happened to trigger this incident. Bella was muzzled as a precaution for her veterinary exam, buts she did not show signs of outward aggression. In her initial behavior assessment, she was very stiff and nervous, and showed her teeth more than once. After increased socialization, Bella has warmed up quite a bit, and can be easily leashed and handled. Due to Bella’s history, she would benefit greatly from a foster based environment where she can feel safe while in search of her forever home. This gorgeous gal is already spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, tested negative for heartworms and was not found to have any major health concerns. We have found her to be a bit underweight, so Bella should be fed an increased calorie diet until she reaches an ideal body condition. I am writing you from a law office in Rockville regarding one of our clients. Our client, Becky Schaar, has an eight year old Chihuahua. Becky suffers from MS and the condition is progressing quickly. Caring for the dog has now put her health in jeopardy as she has sustained 2 injuries from attempting to take the dog out for walks. She has struggled with the fact that she cannot care for Genevieve for the past year or so and as hard as this is, it has gotten to the point that she must rehome Genevieve for her own safety. Do you have any suggestions or can you help in any way? I would certainly appreciate any feedback you can offer.

I need a foster home for Buckeye..jack russell terrier

Here is his assessments:

His original owner had passed away and according to the man who surrendered him, Buckeye had bit him when he tried putting him in a crate. He did need to seek medical treatment from the bite, so Buckeye does have a bite record. From what I can assess here Buckeye only gets snappy when being forced into uncomfortable situations. He did bite a volunteer when she was putting him away but according to her he tried to squeeze past her and she quickly grabbed him. I believe the bite in this incident was a result of being startled. I have never had an issue getting him out of his kennel, putting him away, or picking him up. The only other time he has been snappy was being pushed into a crate after being at the vet(it was his first time out after being on bite quarantine from the owner and he also got his rabies and microchip that day). Besides these incidents Buckeye has been a very friendly dog and seems to get along with people, dogs, and cats. Unfortunately the kennel environment here is very stressful for dogs and we have no way of really making good progress on getting him used to going in a crate, which seems to be his biggest trigger. I truly believe Buckeye has the potential to be a really great little dog for someone he just needs a little training first. He is already UTD on all shots, microchipped, heartworm tested and on prevention, flea/tick free and on prevention, and is neutered.

This is Cookie Dough. She was the only horse out of 12 shipping to slaughter that was saved. It was a hard choice to decide which horse to save..knowing the ones not chosen would die a horrifying death. Cookie was chosen. She is approx.17yrs old. She is a standbred mix. She is very nice. This dog is in Maryland. I can only help her if I have an approved foster home. This is her story:
I am asking for help on behalf of Rosalia. This sweet girl is only 2 years old and has been at the shelter for almost one year. She is considered ‘adoptable’, but because the shelter lists her as having to be an only dog she has not had much interest from adopters. Anyone dedicating theirtime to rescue knows what a toll any time spent in a busy shelter environment takes on a dog, so being there for almost a whole year is pretty rough. Yet Rosalia is still doing well there and very excited when she gets to come out of her kennel.
Our concern is that they recently got a dog named Ivy adopted that was there for two years. Ivy was placed with an adopter thatreturned her after a few days and she was euthanized the very same day. The shelter had given the adopter a tug of war toy and the adopter reported that Ivy bit her while playing tug of war. Volunteers never reported Ivy showing any aggression. Everyone in rescue knows that dogs need time to decompressespecially after such a long time in the shelter environment. Playing tug of war should not have happened that soon and with such an inexperienced adopter. Since this led to Ivy being euthanized we are now concerned about Rosalia suffering the same fate if she is placed with an adopter that is not educatedproperly.
In a busy shelter dogs are placed the same day without a home visit and having time to properly educate adopters on how to introduce a dog slowly to a new home. Maybe Rosalia would do just fine being placed without a rescue, but I think a rescue placement would guarantee that she does not suffer Ivy’s fate of being put down solely because an inexperienced adopter walked through the shelter doors.
