Our hay nets have been extensively tested and proven to offer a multitude of advantages when it comes to caring for your horses, ponies, and livestock.
By implementing a slow-feeding method, you can unlock a wide range of benefits that you may not have considered before. We have discovered a total of 13 significant advantages that come with slow feeding, some of which might surprise you!
Our slow feeders, available in various net types, are incredibly versatile. They can be easily hung anywhere, ensuring durability and convenience when it comes to filling them up. Additionally, we offer a vast selection of sizes and shapes to cater to all your specific needs and requirements, regardless of your management situation.
One notable feature of our hay nets is that they have smaller holes compared to many other commercial hay nets. This allows them to be hung at a lower height as their hooves won't get caught in them (if not shod), encouraging a natural head-down feeding position for your horses.
Another benefit of our hay nets is that they are a square, not a diamond shape, meaning that no matter how full or empty the hay net is, the horses can still eat easily from the holes. Whereas diamond holes in an emptying hay net collapse down on each other, becoming harder to eat from as the net empties.
However, it is important to note that if your horse is shod, precautions must be taken to prevent hoof-to-net access. Rest assured, we have plenty of ideas on how to address this issue. ๐
Benefit #11:
โข As the net holes are smaller, the net can be secured low for a natural grazing position.
If they are shod, then they will need to have their hay net hung higher (out of hoof range), or the net has to have a hay ring, gates, box or whatever device you come up with to help separate the hooves and the net.
Be mindful of your horse or ponies hoof size. If they are a small pony and their hoof width is 4cm or 1 3/4" wide and long, then you wouldn't let them eat with hoof contact available, out of a 6cm / 2 1/2" hay net.
