As a friendly reminder, please note that we will be CLOSED this Thursday 11/28, in observance of Thanksgiving. We will be open for a half day on both Wednesday, 11/27 and Friday, 11/29, from 7:30am-12:30pm.

We will return to regular business hours starting the week of 12/2/24. If your pet needs a prescription or food refill, please place your request ASAP to ensure we will have your order ready before the holiday. Refill requests can be made by calling our office, emailing, texting, or ordering through the app. Kindly note, all food and prescriptions MUST be picked up by 12:00pm on both Wednesday, 11/27 and Friday, 11/29.

As we enter the season of giving, we want to send a TREMENDOUS heartfelt thank-you to all of those who have donated to Project Cuddles - the outpouring of support we have received so far has blown away any expectations we had! We will continue to collect donations through the end of the year (12/31/24), with donations being dropped off the first weekend in January (please see our website for more details). Although Bri (the organizer) will no longer be at the hospital, she will continue to operate the project and wants to thank each and every person again for all the contributions you have made.

In observance of the holiday next week, our hours will be altered:

Monday, 11/25 and Tuesday, 11/26: open regular hours (7:30am-5:00pm, closed between 12:30-1:30pm for lunch)

Wednesday, 11/27: open for a half day, from 7:30am-12:30pm

Thursday, 11/28: CLOSED for Thanksgiving

Friday, 11/29: open for a half day, from 7:30am-12:30pm

HAPPY HALLOWEEN from AHRH! 🎃👻🤖☠️👹

Here are a few tips to keep in mind to prevent some surprise spooks and unexpected scares today:
- Keep all candy out of reach of pets, especially ones with chocolate and xylitol as they are both toxic to pets. Your pet may love it, but their body won’t! 🍬
- Supervise pets around decorations and lit candles - it only takes one zoomie to create an accident and a potential injury! 🕯️
- If your pet is reactive to sounds and lights (such as the doorbell ringing and festive lights), be sure to have a safe space for them to stay and decompress for the night. A calm pet is a safe pet! 😎
- Make sure your pet is properly tagged and/or microchipped in case they slip out of the house to go on their own Halloween adventure! Microchipped pets are THREE TIMES more likely to be reunited with their family 🐶🐱

This week was National Veterinary Technician Week! "Veterinary technicians are the link between animals and veterinarians. They are the ones who make sure that animals receive the best possible care".

We are truly blessed to have some of the best staff members and we spent this week celebrating them with special gifts and food! We could not do what we do without them!

🚨 EARLY CLOSING ALERT 🚨

We will be closing at 4:00pm today, 10/4/24 for an office-wide shutdown in order to install our new phones and equipment. This also means our phones will be turned off as well in anticipation of the switch that will be occurring tonight. All food and medications must be picked up by 4:00pm today. Please feel free to reach out via email ([email protected]) or by text (203.987.5539) with any non-urgent questions or requests.

We will be reopening for regular business hours on Monday, 10/7 at 7:30am. If you experience any issues with our new phones starting the following week, please report the feedback to us so we can work on improving our system. As always, thank you for your continued support and patience and we look forward to speaking with you!

🚨 DONATIONS WELCOME 🚨

Project Cuddles is a fundraiser (organized by our receptionist Bri) held in honor of Cuddles, her family childhood cat that was adopted from the Humane Society who sadly passed away in August 2024. To honor his memory, his family has decided to hold a fundraiser to collect donations of needed items to give back to the Humane Society where he was adopted from. Monetary donations can also be made as well, and a list of donors will be presented (either anonymous or named) when the donations are given. Any donations not accepted by the Humane Society will be presented to Out To Pasture, or another local shelter of choice.

Currently we are collecting items now through December 31st, 2024. Donations will be donated to the Newington Humane Society on January 4th, 2025. Below is a list of items currently needed/accepted:

General supplies (paper towels, heavy duty garbage bags, gently used towels/blankets/beds)

Cat supplies (dry/canned food and treats, litter/litterboxes, new toys/scratchers (please no catnip), carriers, squeeze up lickable treats, laser pointers, Feliway)

Dog supplies (dry/canned food and treats, collars and leashes, new dog toys, smooth peanut butter, soft training treats, Nylabones/Benebones, Pupperoni/Beggin Strips, Adaptil)

Small animal supplies (Carefresh bedding, Yesterdays News litter, small animal/bird toys, Oxbow Brand small animal food)

Maternity supplies (Royal Canin kitten food, Breeders Edge kitten formula, kitten bottles, miracle ni***es, snuggle safe heat discs)

Donations can be dropped off at the Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill during normal business hours (open Monday through Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm, closed daily between 12:30-1:30pm for lunch). For any questions, please call us at (860) 563-1027. Thank you for any and all donations!

Officer Baker apprehended a "furry fugitive" wandering Parsonage Street just an hour ago. Our friend is now being held at the police department, enjoying VIP treatment (Very Important Pup).

Please note, the hospital will be closed both Thursday 7/4 AND Friday 7/5 in observance of the 4th of July. If you need a refill of any medications, please call ASAP as refill requests may take up to 24hrs to be filled. The last day to pick up food and meds before the long weekend is Wednesday, 7/3. If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency during our closure please contact your nearest emergency veterinary hospital. Please contact us with any questions and stay safe this holiday!
