The Votes Are In… and We Have a Name!

We’re so excited to share that our new feline-only area will lovingly be referred to as the Cat Care Center here at Franklin County Animal Hospital!

Thank you to everyone who helped us pick the name—we had so much fun seeing your votes and reading your comments. While this new area isn’t a separate business (we’re still proudly one united team at Franklin County Animal Hospital!), we wanted a special name to reflect the calm, peaceful, and cat-friendly space we’ve created just for our feline friends.

The Cat Care Center features its own entrance, exam rooms, and treatment space—all designed with cats in mind to help reduce stress and make visits more comfortable for our kitty patients.

We can’t wait for you and your cats to experience this new side of our practice!

Exciting News from Our Clinic!

We’re thrilled to share that Dr. Handy is now serving as our Chief of Staff!

Many of you already know Dr. Handy (Knick)—she’s been part of our clinic family for over five years, and in that time, she’s become known for her medical expertise, surgical skill, and compassionate care. We’re so happy to have her in this new role where she’ll continue to support both our patients and our team with the same dedication and heart she brings to everything she does.

This transition follows Dr. Annis’s thoughtful decision to step down from the Chief of Staff position earlier this year in order to spend more time with her family. We’re incredibly grateful for her leadership over the years, and even more grateful that she’s still with us two days a week, continuing to care for our patients with the same warmth and excellence you’ve always known.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Handy—and in celebrating the amazing team that makes our clinic such a special place!

🎉Help Us Celebrate Donna's 3-Year Anniversary at FCAH!🎉

Three years ago, Donna and her husband made the big move from Vermont to our area, and we were lucky enough to have her join our team! With years of veterinary experience under her belt, she jumped right back into the field- and we couldn't be more grateful. 🐾💙

You'll often see Donna at the front desk, greeting you with kindness and compassion. She also steps in as a veterinary assistant when needed, always ensuring that every pet gets the care they deserve. Her love for animals, dedication to our clients, and warm personality have made her an irreplaceable part of our FCAH family. 🐶

When she's not here, Donna enjoys spending time with her family in the beautiful Union Hall area of Smith Mountain Lake.

Please join us in congratulating Donna on her 3-year anniversary at Franklin County Animal Hospital! Drop a comment below to show her some love!

🎉Happy 2-Year Work Anniversary, Mandy🎉

For the past two years, Mandy has been an incredible part of our team, bringing her expertise, compassion, and creativity to everything she does! Originally from Whales (yes, we all adore her fabulous accent!), Mandy came to us with plenty of experience and quickly became an essential part of our team. 😻

As a licensed veterinary technician, she has a special soft spot for cats, often working alongside Dr. Jessup to provide the best care for our feline patients. She's also our go-to lab guru, keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Most recently, Mandy has played a vital role in helping to plan our new feline wing, helping ensure our future cat patients will have the most comfortable experience possible! 😺✨

Outside of the clinic, Mandy's passion for the performing arts shines just as brightly. She's deeply involved with Attic Productions in Fincastle, where she not only performs but also directs and choreographs. She loves teaching young and young at heart performers and sharing her creativity with the community!

Mandy is kind, talented, and a joy to work with - we are so lucky to have her on our team!
Help us celebrate her by dropping a comment below. 🎭🐾💜

🎉Happy 4-Year Work Anniversary, Logan🎉

From starting with us as a high school kennel attendant to growing into his role as a veterinary assistant, Logan has been an invaluable part of our team! His positive energy, friendly attitude, and dedication to our patients and clients makes a difference every day. 💙

Logan wears many hats at the clinic - you'll find him assisting at the front desk, helping with tech appointments, and working alongside our vets in the exam rooms. No matter where he is, he's always ready to lend a hand with a smile. 😺

On top of all that, Logan is a very busy man! He's a student at Ferrum College, actively involved in community outreach, and still finds time to work at the clinic while spending quality time with his family and friends. We admire his dedication and are so lucky to have him on our team!

Drop a comment below to help us celebrate Logan and his amazing four years with us! 🐾
