Honeybee swarm #1 June 2022
A bee-autiful swarm we caught here on the farm and relocated last weekend.....ππ
It's kidding season!!! Congratulations to our Shammy! One boy and one girl!
We usually do not have new babies until the Spring but in my crazy chicken addicted defense, I had a hen on eggs that were due to hatch any day. I went out before the snow storm and one of her 12 eggs were not under her and was ice cold, so I broke it to see and they are indeed fertile and that baby had froze to death in its egg. Sooooo....took it into my own hands. Left her a couple so she would not be completely devastated. She is a good and broody mama but I couldn't let these babies die in the frigid weather. A little early for babies this year but they'll be taken care of π My little girl has been reading to the incubator. β€π£And now after 3 days in the incubator, we have some action going on! So happy to have saved these babies.
These two would truly be lost without eachother.
Played with the bees today. I enjoy them so much. Always brings happiness and peace when with them.
For those of you that asked about the drill ran chicken plucker a while back....
Happy Valentine's Day (belated) to me! Forget the diamonds....give me honey bees! Or a goat. Goats are good too. But bees are the best!!! πππππ
Round 2....ding...ding....
