By 1957, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Buckley of Cedardell Farms Arabian Stud, had been breeding horses for 20 years. Here’s an ad they ran in the Arabian Horse News from that year, celebrating the birth of their 3rd generation of breeding. Welcome to the world, Tsatyr (Tsali x Imamara by Imaraff), a correct and beautiful bay c**t that would carry forth Cedardell breeding into the new millennium.

I’ve posted adult photos of Tsatyr before, with write ups, but I’d not seen a nice photo of his dam, Imamara (Imaraff x Bint Abu by Abou) before. She was a full sister to the 1959 US National Champion Mare Lallegra, who only had 4 c**ts by Synbad++ (Julep x Sahra Su by Indraff), one of them being the US Top Ten Stallion Cedardel Heritage and a second one being US Top Ten Western Pleasure Horse Super-X. Imamara had a total of 7 foals, 3 by Tsali (Ibn Hanad x My Bonnie Nylon by *Raffles) which included Tsatyr, Hillcrest Tsainte and Lauramara. She also had a *Nizzam gelding for Jim Lewis of Lewisfield, a Synbad++ son named Synsire and two Julep foals, a c**t named Kings Ransom and a filly named Diamond Lil.

When one thinks of Tsatyr today, the horse that immediately comes to mind is Ivanhoe Tsultan (Ivanhoe Tsatan x Hillcrests Bint Imaraff by Imaraff), most associated with “the woman who made him famous” as both a show horse and sire, Roxann Hart. But, Tsatyr can be found in the pedigree’s of Cedar Ridge Arabians Brass (*Bask++ x Tsanar by Tsatyr), Murray and Shirley Popplewell’s multi-National Champion and multi-National Champion sire Bey Ambition (*Regal Actor JP x Bey Shahs Lady by Bey Shah+) and Al-Marah’s great Reigning horse and sire AM Good OldBoy+ (AM Sea Captain++ x AM Tis Beverlie by Tsatyr) who sired SEVEN Legion of Masters and Legion of Excellence Winners. These bloodlines do breed on and can easily be found in Lasma, Miller Arabians, Al-Marah, Hillcrest, Diamond R Arabians and Ivanhoe Arabians breeding today.

Fun Fact: Ajman Stud’s super sire, AJ Madran (Vervaldee x Felecia RLC by *Shael Dream Desert), whose influence is felt world wide, traces in direct tail female to the Tsatyr granddaughter *Cameo Bey (Bey Shah+ x Tsylvestra by Tsatyr), who was exported to master breeder and judge Murilo Kammer in Brazil in 1995.

Yesterday we said goodbye to a mare full of character heart and quality. Her family made the difficult decision to let her go. It was my pleasure to care for her and train her for almost 10 years.
