CDC’s New Dog Import Rule: Mid-July Updates for Dog Enthusiasts

In May, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced new finalized rules on the Importation of Dogs and Cats. The new rules have been received with great concern about the impacts they will have on low-risk importations, particularly on fanciers and breeders who regularly cross the U.S.-Canadian border for canine event participation, veterinary care, and breeder collaboration; and on the impact the increase in the minimum age of importation will have on puppies’ development. With only two weeks remaining before the new rules go into effect, the American Kennel Club (AKC) provides the following updates for dog enthusiasts who may wish to better understand the rules and potentially express concerns with how the new rule will impact them. UPDATE 1: NEW DOG IMPORT FORM AVAILABLE
A new CDC Dog Import Form will required of every person crossing a border into the U.S. with a dog. The form is now available on CDC’s website. To access the form, go to https://cdc-786687.workflowcloud.com/forms/fb112553-dd9a-4c3e-a75f-12d6b7e2f2a4.

The form is free, and can be completed on the day of travel. Importers must submit a new form if any information about the importation changes, such as dates of travel or the port of entry. The form requires the dog’s microchip number, and importers must upload a photo of the dog showing its head and body.

After submitting the completed form, importers will receive a receipt. They must show that receipt (printed or on their phone) to port of entry officials or airline staff.

Had a great 54th birthday. I have been celebrating for pretty much a week now. My parents came over from Tulsa and we did lunch and cake over the weekend. Both of my daughters Megan Rozzana and grandson went out to lunch with me the next day. Bridgette Ball my youngest daughter came to visit from OKC for 3 days and we did all kinds of stuff. Then today - the new office chair that my mom - Lee Ellen Thompson got for me for my gift showed up UPS. For those of you that know.......or don't......I have my own business so spend a LOT of time at my desk. Even if I am just gaming instead of actually working. My husband Ben Ball had my new chair all assembled and ready for me when I got up from a nap. Felt very loved and surrounded by🥰 family for my special day (week). Love you guys!

Dog of the day: Willow. She is a lovely small 8 1/2 lb black & tan rough coat. She is a daughter of LT x Xavier. Lillie (Baby Dog) is her full sister. This dog is one of my favorites. She is naughty; into everything from the waist down. She climbs the furniture, and is everywhere. She loves her momma, growls if she doesn't think she is getting enough attention. She has not had puppies yet - but maybe soon!

Current hatch out of Indian Runner Ducks - 21 happy ducklings out of 24 = 87.5% hatch rate. Nice. Cuties! They will need new homes.

Let's do another dog of the day. You know - we are going to run out of dogs quickly if we do this every day. I really do not have that many dogs. OK so today - RAVEN - she is a black rough that was born here out of our own dogs. She is a Gabby x Star daughter. Gabby is very old now and I am glad to still have his bloodline. Star too has passed. Raven has a good body style, great hair and a good personality - if a little barky. That is the Gabby part of Sir Gabs A Lot her father. She has only just had her 3rd litter here. We kept Robin out of her first litter and Betty out of her last litter. She is a very correct, outgoing, friendly griff. I have gotten all 4 colors out of her!

Dog of the day.....Alley-gator. Friendly and outgoing....and oh so cute. She sticks to Ben like stink on a skunk. It is mutual- they love each other. Alley got a new haircut yesterday; so cute. One of our new replacement females.

Lt had puppies on Wednesday...not really expecting them until Saturday. 6 puppies! We do have a tiny one. Have her in ICU here. She is responding to treatment. Hopefully we can get her over this premature state. She looks at least 2 days behind the litter. All of the other pups and mom are doing great!

Ben got creative in the kitchen today. Pickled some duck eggs with some sausages and carrots. That is 1 way to preserve and eat duck eggs. We will see - look hot with the peppers.

The ducks and geese are laying full speed ahead! This morning I had 8 dozen duck eggs and a full dozen goose eggs. Sold all this morning. Wow now back to start from scratch. Anyone need unwashed duck eggs for hatching? Need any washed for eating? East of Rogers Arkansas 72756
