Dr. Owen’s boys were gone visiting family for a few days and Chief was not a happy camper. He just moped and laid around. When they got back it was a happy reunion though. You’d think they were apart for weeks but it was just a few days 😂
We are lucky to have animals be part of the family. Let us help you keep them healthy 💙

I might ruffle some feathers but I mean what I’m posting today.
We can’t afford to have people disrespect us and their neighbors anymore.
With 7,821 active patients we stay pretty busy. The problem is that some people don’t respect their fellow humans and no show to appointments. When someone takes a slot of valuable time and then doesn’t show up, they stole the opportunity from another pet owner. This isn’t fair to their neighbors or us.
We are adding a policy to charge for no shows just like your dentist or human doctor does. This decision has been brewing for the last 6 years but finally came to a head this last month. Rather than punish everyone by raising prices we are charging a no show fee to those individuals.
For 85% of people this won’t make any difference. For the few that don’t care about others hopefully this helps them make better choices. I know your parents taught you better 😉.
Yesterday we had a slammed day of great appointments, wonderful patients and awesome clients. BUT… We also had 4 no shows… It was actually nice to get caught up on crazy emergencies and be able to pause and use the restroom but we can’t plan out our day around no show appointments.
Please help us spread the word that veterinarians, receptionists, technicians and assistants are people too. We have bills like you do. We have kids that need to get to practice like you do. We have things that come up like you do. Our piece of crap cars break down like yours do.
Just call us and let us know in advance if you can’t make it. We would love to see you and your pet soon! Thanks

Before and after of a professional dental cleaning. The teeth brushing your groomer offers is nice, but doesn’t remove calculus (the nasty sheet of hardened plaque, food particles and whatever your pup eats). This is scaled off like when you go to the dentist and the hygienist scrapes the gunk teeth brushing doesn’t remove.
The analogy is like concrete on a shovel. If brushed and cleaned off every day it cleans off easily. If left over night it hardens and you must chip it off. .
Come in for dental consult and we can figure out if a cleaning is necessary. Ask about our special we are running for dentals as well!

Although they are never anyone’s favorite, the cone and crate can be life savers. Correctly worn Elizabethan Collar aka E Collar or Cone or cone of shame or shin buster 3000 or door frame sturdiness tester 1000 will ensure your pet doesn’t lick or chew their incision, sore, or healing wound. It can prevent costly revisions of surgery or scary infections. Correct fitment means you can fit 2 fingers between the pet’s neck and the collar (sometimes we use roll gauze to make a necklace). If you can fit 5 fingers between there is a good chance the pet will remove the collar by themselves.
🐶
The crate is another great tool. It’s not punishment. It’s a safe place for the pet to rest. It’s a “den” where they can sleep, relax, eat and drink in peace. It also keeps healing pets from jumping and sprinting. It keeps pets from running to the door when the Amazon package arrives, and from jumping on and off furniture which delays healing. For non-sick/hurt pets, the crate can ensure they don’t get into the trash, sneak something toxic off the counter, eat the panties from the hamper etc. Sometimes we have to save the pet from themself.
🐶
Used correctly the cone and crate can be life savers and life-improvers, so don’t sweat it too much.

We are incredibly thankful for such an amazing staff here at Forty32. We couldn’t serve pets and their parents in Northwest Arkansas without the caring expertise of great animal care representatives. Go team!

Cat nails can grow pretty fast and if the cat isn’t a frequent user of scratching posts these nails can sometimes grow around and into the paw pad. Don’t worry, we can trim the nail, flush the wound and get them on some meds to get them back to 💯 %
Make sure to check your cat (or dog) regularly (every 3-6 weeks) to see if they need a trim. We are happy to get them on the schedule for a nail trim with one of our experienced veterinary staff.
