Volunteer Spotlight: Leah Weaver🎉 Meet Leah, an Advanced Volunteer who does it all! From mucking stalls and assisting with feeding to coordinating in the office, Leah’s support is invaluable. Leah gave us a little insight on her experience volunteering at Equestrian Bridges:

What brought you to Equestrian Bridges?
I had an internship at an organization similar to EB during college and absolutely loved the experience. When I moved to NWA and I started looking at corporate jobs, I realized there was something missing - a deeper sense of purpose. I discovered EB and all the wonderful work they do, signed up for a training session, and the rest is history!

What is the best part of volunteering at Equestrian Bridges?
The best part of volunteering at EB is the countless ways to contribute, each one making a positive impact on both the horses and the clients. The trust the EB staff places in us is nothing short of empowering, and knowing that I’m making a difference in the NWA community makes every volunteer shift even more rewarding than the horse hugs!

Which horse is your favorite at Equestrian Bridges?
My favorite horse is Chance! He is always down for love and cuddles which make me so happy - plus he’s a stunner!

What is a fun fact about you?
I was a figure skater for many years growing up and get back on the ice absolutely every opportunity I get.

Happy Valentine’s Day! 💌🐴❤️Which one of our EB horses would you choose as your Valentine?

Meet Gracie, the one and only mare in our "Bigs" herd. She might be the only girl, but trust us, she’s the real boss around here! It’s only fitting we shine a spotlight on Gracie this month, especially with Galentine’s Day in the air.

Gracie just celebrated her 17th birthday last month, and it’s hard to believe she’s been with us for almost 8 years now. We first welcomed her to Equestrian Bridges when she was 9, thanks to the amazing Traci Hall who gifted her to us. Gracie is a proud Northwest Arkansas native and spent her early years on a ranch just down the road in Springdale.

Gracie is great with our more seasoned riders teaching them patience and body awareness. She is also the go-to-girl for English riding.

Not only does Gracie shine with her positive attitude, but she’s also the only horse at EB who wears horseshoes—because every girl needs her shoes! When she’s not in therapy sessions she loves getting groomed. She relaxes so much that she will sometimes fall asleep during it! We love Gracie’s “Girl Boss” attitude and her eagerness to help our clients. She truly embodies strength, charisma, and grace!

Ever wonder about your favorite horse’s life before Equestrian Bridges? Each of our therapy horses had a unique journey before joining our herd, and Magnum is no exception.

Born and raised in Arkansas, Magnum spent the first five years of his life participating in Civil War reenactments. Magnum is what you’d call “bomb-proof,” as he remained unshaken by the simulated gunshots and explosions during those events.

Three years ago, we heard about a 5-year-old Tennessee Walking Horse with a knack for connecting with kids. When Magnum came to visit Equestrian Bridges, it didn’t take long for us to realize he was a perfect fit.

Today, Magnum is the ultimate therapy horse. He’s gentle, playful, and adores children. With his high-energy “horsenality,” Magnum thrives on staying active and entertained. One of his favorite activities is playing games, especially the “animal game,” where he picks up stuffed animals and carries them around the arena.

Magnum love horses and humans alike. When he’s not busy in sessions, you can often find him in the pasture, playing with his herd mates Dusty and Gracie. Magnum also has a love for water. He gets excited when the hose comes out, often requesting to be sprayed down. Don’t be surprised if he tries to steal the hose from you!

With his warm heart and playful spirit, Magnum brings joy and healing to everyone he meets. We’re so lucky to have him as part of the Equestrian Bridges family!
