My vacation is around the corner and I NEED IT. How many of you guys have been to California before?

As some of you know, California is where I was born and raised. In Orange County. Which has been featured on soooooooo many television shows. I grew up just 20-30 minutes from the beach.

I have not had a vacation in 5 YEARS!!!!!!! I have not seen my family (except my grandparents) in 5 YEARRRRSSS!!! Besides my grandparents, no one has met son, Caden, who’s about to be 5 years old this July.

I am so excited I can hardly wait, my kids wake me up every morning asking how many days till the beach??

This vacation is bitter sweet because while I’m looking forward to seeing my childhood friends and all my side of the family, my grandma won’t be there. We’re going for her celebration of life and to spread her ashes.

I don’t want this post to be a sad one, I’m going to post a couple pictures of my GG in the comments.

Want to know a fun fact? I didn’t learn how to drive or get my license until I was 25 😂

What’s a fun fact about you?

You guys know I believe in transparency, I just wanted to share this one with you guys so you know whenever I do have to raise prices, it’s not because I’m greedy.

My shampoo 3 years ago for a 5 Gallon Bucket was around $170, that lasted me 10 -12 weeks or so.

Last year it went up twice. To $211 and then by the end of the year it was $256. Even on sale, it never goes below $200 anymore. Still lasting me 8-10 weeks at this point.

It is now $267 for a single 5 gallon bucket before taxes.
I opened this one on 2/11 (I write the date in every shampoo) it will be empty in the next couple days. Less than 6 weeks it’s lasting me now. I just spent $600 on 10 gallons of shampoo after taxes and FREIGHT to last less then 12 weeks.

Now this is just my main shampoo, the Hypoallergenic I use on every single dog before any extra specialty shampoo. I don’t replace those as often but those are about $90-$110 for a single gallon.

This is also the time when some Buisnesses would be switching brands to cut overhead or boost profits. We see it all the time at the grocery store with shrinkflation. We see it in the reduced quality of our daily products.

I will NOT be joining that club. I’ve used this shampoo on my clients for the last 8 years. I will not switch it up and possibly cause allergies or issues. It’s a good product and it gets the job done to my standards, I’m just forced to pay the higher price tag. It’s the same amount I’ve always purchased. Nothing extra.

I’ve had people complain about a $5 increase, saying “what more do I get for an extra $5?” Uh….. nothing?? This is to just continue providing the quality you’ve always received.

I am staying true to my word and I AM NOT increasing prices this year for a majority of clients. Yes that effects my bottom line. I don’t want to be another burden on the families that see me. It’s hard enough out there as is and dog grooming is a non negotiable for many families.

I do have to start charging for those extra baths though. If your pet has a potty accident and needs to be completely rebathed, I do have to add on a $10 fee. There’s some things I just can’t avoid and I wish more than anything I could. I try my absolute hardest to be conscious of my clients wallets but unfortunately I can’t do it at a detriment to my Buisness or I won’t be able to continue serving everyone.

Unfortunately I’ve lost clients very recently over this exact issue.

Thank you everyone for continuing to support me, showing up and showing out to support me and my family. I love you all, I just wanted you guys to see the numbers so you guys can understand a small part of my business from the other side.

Tornado Weather Policy & Emergency Preparedness

Hey everyone! As we approach tornado season, I want to share our emergency preparedness plan to ensure everyone's safety, including our little besties .

If a significant tornado watch is issued, rescheduling appointments will be our top priority. In case tornado weather arrives sooner than expected while we’re still at the salon, we will work diligently to finish our pets safely and promptly.

We have weather radios tuned to NOAA and our TV set to KY3 for timely alerts. If the sirens go off and shelter is needed, all dogs will be securely placed in kennels, dryers will be turned off, and my family and I will head to the nearest FEMA shelter located at the Upper Elementary, Primary, or on Main St.

Once we receive the all-clear, we will return to the salon as soon as possible to resume grooming. Rest assured, if we need to leave the salon for any reason, we will immediately notify the owners of the dogs in our care. If only I had enough hands to take them all with me! 🐾

If you’re uncomfortable with your dog possibly being here unattended during severe weather, or if your pet experiences extreme anxiety during storms, please feel free to cancel, change, or reschedule your appointment on a bad weather day. Your pet's wellbeing is our priority.

I always strive to minimize potential risks due to inclement weather. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to message me. Thank you for your understanding! Remember, we’re not lifelong locals—after 8 years here, tornado season still gives us quite the anxiety!

Stay safe! 💖

Hypothermia in dogs occurs when their body temperature drops below the normal range, typically below 99°F (37.2°C). Here are some common signs to watch for:

1. Shivering: One of the first signs, shivering occurs as the body attempts to generate heat.

2. Lethargy: Dogs may become unusually tired, weak, or less responsive.

3. Cold Skin: Their skin and ears may feel cold to the touch, especially in more exposed areas.

4. Slow Heart Rate: A decrease in heart rate can occur, which may be noticeable if you can feel their pulse.

5. Stiffness or Difficulty Moving: Hypothermia can cause muscle stiffness, making it hard for them to walk or move around.

6. Pale Gums: The gums may appear pale or bluish, indicating poor circulation or oxygenation.

7. Uncontrolled Breathing: Breathing might become shallow or irregular.

8. Confusion or Disorientation: A dog may seem confused or less aware of their surroundings.

If you suspect your dog is suffering from hypothermia, it's crucial to act quickly. Bring them indoors, wrap them in warm blankets, and consult a veterinarian immediately for further assistance.

As a severe winter storm hits this week, it’s vital to keep our pups safe from the extreme cold. Here’s what you can do:

1. Ensure that all dogs are brought indoors during the storm. The negative temperatures can be life-threatening, so providing them with a warm and sheltered environment is essential.

2. If you see any dogs left outside, please take action. Call your local police department or animal rescue to report the situation. They can help ensure the safety of these animals. Animal Angels Network can help answer questions or direct you in what to to do.

3. While it's important to keep dogs indoors, they still need to relieve themselves. Take them out for quick potty breaks, but keep it brief to minimize their exposure to the harsh weather. Snow and ice can accumulate between their paw pads, leading to discomfort. After walks, inspect their paws and wipe them clean. Consider dog sweaters or coats for short-haired breeds or small dogs. Booties can protect their paws from ice and salt.

4. Make sure your dog has a warm, cozy spot with blankets or a dog bed to snuggle in during the storm. This will help keep them calm and comfortable.

Stay warm everyone!

Due to inclement weather we will be closed Tuesday February 18th, and likely Wednesday the 19th.

Everyone stay safe, warm, and stay home if you can! I’ll work on getting everyone rescheduled. 💋
