"Stop! Stop!"

Taher's voice erupted like a fierce storm, fueled by a surge of righteous anger and empathy that threatened to overwhelm him. With a heart heavy with sorrow, he abandoned his schoolbooks and raced across the road, his steps fueled by an urgent need to intervene, to shield the defenseless puppy from further harm. The sight of the helpless creature, dangling upside down with fear in its eyes, tore at Taher's very soul, igniting a fire of compassion within him that refused to be extinguished.

"What do you think you're doing?" Taher's voice quivered with a potent mix of indignation and disbelief as he confronted the boys, his eyes ablaze with raw emotion.

"It's none of your business," sneered the older boy, his tone dripping with contempt.

"But it is my business," Taher retorted, his voice cracking with emotion. "We should treat every living being with kindness and compassion, and what you're doing is unforgivable."

Undeterred by the jeers and threats of his peers, Taher stood his ground, a solitary figure of defiance in a world plagued by cruelty.

"I won't leave until you hand that puppy over to me," he declared, his resolve unwavering. "I'll call for help, and my whole family will come. You won't stand a chance."

Faced with Taher's unwavering determination, the older boy relented, releasing the puppy with a dismissive gesture before retreating with his companions.

😭😭😭One look at the gnawing broken jaw spanning the helpless boy’s face leaves us with many questions. How in the world did this happen? Did a car or person hit him? 😭😭The gaping broken jaw leaves this poor boy suffering, making it hard for him to eat or drink. 💔💔
A good Samaritan, Somaya💌, spotted him stumbling down the street. She picked him up, put him in her car, and took him immediately to our shelter vet. This poor little soul has been forced to endure unimaginable treatment from humans. He is, understandably, in a ton of pain. He will need A LOT of ongoing vet care, and we are committed to getting him whatever help he needs—but we need your support. This will be a very expensive intake, but this poor broken boy’s life hangs in the balance. But even though we are busting at the seams, we cannot allow him to stay unprotected and vulnerable to this cruelty.

Where is the nation's compassion?
A good measure of a nation’s character is how the country treats animals. A good nation of character is merciful, gentle, and kind while governed by compassion and humanity. The nation will not be hard or mean. The wicked nation is cruel; their gentleness is unforgiving, for the nation lacks the tender, gentle spirit of a righteous being concerned for all living things, including the stray street animals.
The author has witnessed many working horses within Egypt and seen the difference in a person’s character visible by Proverbs 12:10 and Quran 24:41. Some horses were well groomed and fed, while others were neglected and starving. On sweltering days, some men still whipped the horses to keep them traveling on while ignoring the heat and without water for the equine. The writer has witnessed the government’s poisoning of defenseless street animals, the beating of puppies by children, and citizens purposely running over animals with cars. The cruelty seen by the author’s eyes daily is unimaginable.
Where is the nation’s compassion before Allah?
The nation should end all animal abuse and suffering and set an example for other Islamic countries. A righteous nation is merciful and kind to citizens, animals, and enemies. The compassionate government will not foolishly punish or afflict others but instead set an example of kindness. A great nation loves compassion, just like the Heavenly Father (God/Allah) loves mercy.
As a nation, we must show compassion for all living creatures, no matter how great or small.
Heavenly Father, I reach out to you this Thanksgiving to ask for the nation of Egypt to receive your compassion to open the hearts of the citizens to be blessed with kindness and tenderness. For you, Lord, are the Lord of all understanding. You have shown me mercy my whole life, and your word has taught me that I must constantly respond to others with the same kindness. My life experiences have taught me to stay at arm’s length away from others, so I need your help to be the example you need me to be. Please give me the empathy I need to reach those citizens.

No one cares if I die today. I am alone in the cold, dark streets suffering in pain and misery. I see you walking by, not even bothering to look at me. Why are you humans so heartless toward me? All I ever wanted was love. I spend my days hiding under cars, patiently waiting for nightfall to search for food in the trash. If only someone would rescue me from this cruel life. But wait, you did when you left me poisoned food. It felt so good to have my belly full, but the pain started as the poison took over my body, and I died slowly. No one cared that I died.
