With great sadness and heavy hearts, we said goodbye to one of our pack yesterday. Tripp was the sweetest, most loving boy. He was with me for a little over 10 years. I brought this sweet boy home from the shelter when he was roughly 8 months old, and he was terrified of the world. Although his past was unknown, it was clear it wasn’t one that was kind to him. He had scars on his body, and a broken paw that had healed incorrectly (we called it his fancy paw). But let me tell you, that sweet boy had my heart from the day I met him at the shelter. I saw him in his kennel, hugged against the wall, as scared as could be, so I got him out for a walk. We walked a bit and sat down on a bench, and he put his paws up on me to ask to climb in my lap. I picked him up, and he proceeded to wrap his front legs around my neck and lay his head on my shoulder. It was over for me and the rest was history. From the day he came home with me, he only asked for love (and lots of snacks). He was never good with other dogs, but he grew to love Embry his brother that crossed the rainbow bridge 2 years ago.. and he at least tolerated Nyla, his sister that has been with us for about a year and a half now. He will forever be missed, just like his brother. And the world feels a bit emptier without him.
