This is Charlie, he is 2 years old and is in need of a new home. He is in SW Missouri near Springfield. I believe in full disclosure. Despite Charlie being an amazing dog after 2 years he has desided that he no longer wants to get along with the other much smaller and older dogs in the home. I have been unable to fix the issue. I believe he needs to be one of maybe two dogs of similar size or even the only dog in the home. He loves his people however he has never been around very young children as our children and grandchildren are all adults. He is very energetic and gets over excited when you leave and come home he misses you a lot. He has never been off lead outside of the fenced in yard and is doggie door trained. I love him very much and am only doing this because I feel it is best for both him and the other dogs in the home. His a good and gorgeous boy. You can PM if interested. Would want a vet reference

Lucy and Linus are looking for their fur-ever home! They are a bonded pair and must go together.

These sweet babies were found abandoned in a parking lot when they were about 13 weeks old. Lucy had a fractured hip and her brother Linus had not left her side. They have since been under the care of their foster mom and the folks here at Best Friends. Lucy is healing up nicely and these two are ready to go to their forever home! They are both very sweet kitties and have no issue with friendly dogs. To keep them safe, they will need to be indoor only kitties. Please feel free to share online or inquire about adopting at our front desk.

Hello, it is not a great pleasure that I am having to write this post today. Unfortunately, we had to board 2 pets last night against our wishes. After having staff stay close to 2 hours past closing waiting on a long time client to pick up her pets, we had to make the difficult decision for them to stay the night. Thankfully, since we are a boarding facility we had the adequate and appropriate means to do so but still a decision we never thought we would have to make and never had in the almost 6 years we've been open. We close at 4 PM daily unless finishing a dog puts us over in which case the client is always notified prior or if prior arrangements have been discussed. It is your responsibility as a pet parent to check on your pets while in our care if communication has been missed. Ignoring our calls or not returning at a time you have communicated to us is not only unfair to our staff but to your pets as well. I am sure that ALL dogs would be much more comfortable in their own homes but with our staff living 45 minutes away and staying well past closing, at some point we have to make the decision to leave.
We appreciate every single one of our clients who respect our time and we try our absolute hardest to make accommodations anywhere we can but we do have to draw a line when our time is taken advantage of. Thank you for all of your continued support in helping our small business make it through these rough couple years and keep in mind that some policies will need to be reinforced such as our late fees, no show fees, and now our after hours fees. Hello, The Pet Cottage is looking for an experienced Dog Groomer/ Stylist Legal w2 Position!!! Sign-on Bonus!!!!

Pawsome Candidates would have:
A high school diploma or GED
Have 1 year or more of grooming experience with formal training certification and/or experience under an established certified groomer or willing and able to participate in training and certification (preferred but not required)
1 year experience in retail or other service industry where they've provided top notch service (preferred)
Ability to move or lift merchandise, equipment or pets weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand, bend or stoop for extended periods of time
Ability to be flexible in working weekends and some holidays. All candidates must pass the drug screening (where allowed by law), and be 18 years or older.
Responsibilities:
Book appointments and greet pets upon check-in
Follow bathing/brushing procedures as outlined by The Pet Cottage
Clean ears and clip nails
Adhere to customer instruction
Talk to the dogs or use other techniques to keep dog calm
Answer phone and schedule customer appointments
Sweep, vacuum, clean and sanitize cages, tubs, and other cleaning as needed to adhere to standards
Deliver world class customer satisfaction to customers and pets.
Arrive on time and ready for your day.
Cover Boarding as needed

PSA: Kennel Cough is going around our area. We have had several cancellations due to dogs contracting it.

Where can your dog pick up Kennel Cough?
Your pet can get Kennel Cough anytime he/she is around other animals. They can pick it up at Daycare, Boarding, Grooming, at the Dog Park, Or even just being in contact with another pet on a walk or inside areas where dogs are welcomed like the pet store.

How is Kennel cough spread?
Through nose to nose contact or contact with the droplets on clothes and other items. Even dogs that are vaccinated can still contract Kennel Cough although it’s often a secondary infection and not true Kennel Cough.

What can we do?
Look for symptoms in your pet and if any of the following symptoms are noticed, call your vet immediately for medication and isolate it from other animals and pets for at least 2 weeks after the cough has subsided. If you notice any of these symptoms please cancel your appointment and we can reschedule for when your pet is feeling better.

-a strong cough, often with a “honking” sound – this is the most obvious symptom
-runny nose
-sneezing
-lethargy
-loss of appetite
-low fever

How do we prevent it?
We are taking all the precautions necessary to prevent the spread in our area. We routinely clean in between pets and do not allow pet to pet contact in dogs that are not housemates. However this unfortunately is not always enough. Dogs can be asymptomatic and spread the illness to other pets without noticing any of the above symptoms. We are following Tender Hearts protocol on how to effectively clean in between pets to limit possible exposure.
