Public Animal Welfare Services Floyd County Animal Control Department is responsible for all animal control operations. To provide comprehensive and responsible adoption/rescue programs. Spam.

Floyd County PAWS strives:

To provide services which aid in containing free-roaming animals to prevent human injuries and the spread of diseases. To provide services which help prevent animals from becoming nuisances to the community or a burden to its citizens. To provide a physical facility which will house lost unwanted and neglected animals in a humane manner. To provide health care services

to those animals housed to prevent suffering. To provide unwanted, sick or injured animals with humane euthanasia, according them dignity and respect during that act. To strive to improve performance through education and dedication to our mission. To create public information and education programs, which will assist the members of this community to become more responsible pet owners.

Creating a Safe Space
Content is removed from P.A.W.S. channels and users are banned when an exchange or piece of content falls into one of the following categories:

Copyright or Trademark Laws. We report pages and accounts that impersonate the P.A.W.S. to the appropriate social media partners and remove content and comments that violate copyright and trademark laws. Harassment, Bullying, Violence & Threats. We have no tolerance for this and remove comments and content immediately that purposefully targets individuals. Content includes, but is not limited to:
- Images altered to degrade individuals or animals
- Personal information shared, e.g. addresses, phone numbers
- Content that contains specific threats
- Content that promotes or threatens terrorist activity or organized criminal activity

Violent & Graphic Content. We will remove pornographic or excessively violent content or comments shared on P.A.W.S. platforms. This includes content that promotes:
- Gratuitous violence towards people or animals
- Self-injury (including self-harm), suicide
- Sexual violence or exploitation of anyone, including minors

Hate Speech. Organizations and people dedicated to promoting hatred against any groups, including minority or protected groups, are not allowed a presence on our platforms. Any sort of hateful comments towards any individuals or groups based on the following topics will be banned:
- Race
- Ethnicity
- National origin
- Religious affiliation
- Sexual orientation
- Sex, gender, or gender identity
- Serious disabilities or diseases
- Age

Nudity. We will remove comments posted on our accounts that violate the platform standards. When sharing content that may contain nudity on P.A.W.S. social accounts we adhere to the individual platform community standards. By staying spam-free, our platforms have a better chance of fostering meaningful interactions. Our audiences are driven away if they encounter content from other users that is repetitive or too commercial in nature. For that reason, we hide or delete comments that are abusing platforms to post content such as:
- Malware/Phishing:
- Duplicate content over multiple accounts or multiple duplicate updates on one account
- Duplicate replies, comments, or mentions
- Unsolicited replies, comments, or mentions
- Misleading links (e.g. affiliate links, links to malware/clickjacking pages, etc.)

These babies are Echo (male), Soldier (male and already neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots), and Liberty (female). These brothers and sisters are amazing pups that have been here 46 days. They are around 6 months old and they have grown up here. A couple of their other siblings have left but these are our last three pups from this litter that need to find forever homes. They are all dog friendly and love people. We are still waiting for our Mistletoe to find her forever home. She is dog friendly and she absolutely loves people. She has been on multiple field trips with volunteers and they all love her. She was brought in from a cruelty case. She was emaciated when she came to us. She is back up to weight and is around 50 lbs now. You wouldn't be able to tell she was treated badly due to her sweet demeanor. Unfortunately, Mistletoe has been here 198 days with no interest and we need to get Miss Mistletoe out of the shelter immediately. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 11:30am-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-4:30pm. We are located at 99 North Avenue Rome, Ga 30161.

He went out Tuesday(2/11) around 630am to use the bathroom & disappeared. He joined our family almost 8yrs ago & has NEVER ran off. Has always been an inside dog. very cold natured. Hates rain. He’s scared of almost everything(esp storms).He’s not aggressive. If you see him PLEASE call out “ROCKET” & he will come up to you. PLEASE keep him SAFE & notify me immediately!! He is LOVED DEEPLY!! Who is interested in this older man? This is Tank. Tank is around 5 years old. He's set in his ways and likes to lay around. He came to us as a 'stray' although we have never seen such a well fed stray! Tank could stand to lose a few pounds (don't tell him we said that). Tank loves everyone and any food. With heavy hearts, we would like to let our community know. Gunner, our beloved shelter dog, passed away yesterday afternoon surrounded by his family, the shelter staff. With lots of treats and more love than he could ever imagine, he left us peacefully. Our hearts will always hold Gunner close, the memories both good and bad will forever be with us. Gunner will always be one of the greatest dogs to ever grace our lives and we will always keep his memory alive. Gunner served his community with dedication, loyalty and love. He touched the hearts of anyone that met him and he loved all the attention he was given. With a heart as big as the sky, Gunner left knowing he was loved. Thank you to everyone that came and visited, brought him treats and showed support during our difficult time. He loved each and everyone of you. Gunners last ride 🖤

Come and meet Midway. Midway found himself in an overcrowded shelter in mid April as a tiny puppy. We are estimating him to be around 8 months old and possibly a Shepherd mix. His wonky ears say it all! Midway loves to be as close to you as you will allow him to be , his medium size weighing in at 55 pounds makes him the perfect snuggle buddy. His dashing good looks is just a bonus. Midway will definitely win you over when he belly crawls to you for attention. Midway has been a shelter dog for 162 days, he is fully vetted and ready to be Adopted. Midway is very eager to find him a home so he can truly show a family what it’s like to be loved by a dog. If you would like to meet Midway our hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm and Saturday from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. We are located at 99 North Ave Rome, GA 30161

This is Berry. He's been here since he was a little bitty pup. He has been here a total of 91 days. He is around 8 months and looks to be a lab mix. This poor pup has grown up here at the shelter. Our volunteer Bella came by to give a couple dogs some attention. Pj is a staff and volunteer favorite! He is in a playgroup with other dogs his size and does awesome with them. Pj is fully grown and ready to find a family of his own. He is around a year old and such a good dog. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,Friday 11:30am-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-4:30pm. If you spend time in the water then Darcy is the dog for you! She loves loves loves water. Darcy is always the first one to step into our kiddie pools we have set up outside. She loves to lay in them to cool off on these hot summer days. Darcy is dog friendly and is around 2 years old. She is a great dog! Come meet her! We are at 99 North Avenue Rome, Ga 30161.
