We currently have 3 nursing momma dogs (with a combined total of 30 puppies) and approximately 90 puppies under 6 months old in our care. We do not have background information on any of the puppies, and to the best of our knowledge, all of them will be medium to large size full grown. We do not have any puppies that will stay little at this time.
This is mind blowing numbers considering it is December.

We all know, a shelter setting is no place for a puppy.
🐾If you are a licensed rescue that has any space available to pull Mom/pups or puppies please contact:
Sandy Ponders at 706-236-4537 or email [email protected]

🐾 If you are missing a dog please come to the shelter with a current photo. Please do not call, misunderstanding over the phone about what the animal looks like could lead to longer shelter stays than necessary.

🐾 Reminder: we offer microchip’s, they are available any time we are open during normal business hours. $15 for the first pet, $10 for each additional pet. No appointment required. A really good investment if you plan on traveling with your pet during the Holidays.

🐾If you are a Floyd County resident ( you have to provide proof) please sign up for our low cost Spay and Neuter program. The link can be found pinned to the top of our page with all the information provided.
⭐️ Please note, if you have already signed up do not sign up again, we are working through our list as quickly as possible and all communication will be through email, so make sure you provide accurate contact information and also as accurate as possible information on the pet you are signing up.

Have a safe and happy Holiday season 🎅🏻 🎄
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

🐾⭐️ Remember, NEVER give an animal as a present when the reviving party has not been informed. Animals are a life long commitment, everyone should be in agreement, an animal should never be given as a surprise.

Thursday afternoon, we set out on a mission. To get 31 of our amazing animals up North ❄️
The wonderful ladies at Floyd Felines And Friends had contacted us earlier in the week and asked if we wanted a chance to get some of our Cats and Kittens out 🤩 of course we jumped at the opportunity. It was the “Christmas Miracle” 🎅🏻🎁⛄️❄️ we had been waiting for. They have spent over 200 days with us available to the public for adoption, with no luck.
Our shelter staff jumped into action, working countless hours making sure everyone was happy and healthy and ready to go. One of our very own Shelter Staff members was on the way with our crew. As luck would have it, our Shelter Van broke down. With a few very panicked minutes, Loyd’s Wrecker Service was on the way to “Rescue” us 🤍 they went above and beyond helping make sure we were back on the road as quickly as possible. He helped off load from the Van to the Truck and Trailer ⭐️ ( definitely a 5 star review) and had us back on the road within no time ❤️🤍💚
Friday afternoon, our Cats and Kittens, arrived to a very welcoming receiving rescue. They couldn’t believe at how happy, healthy, beautiful, amazing and friendly they all were. Very bittersweet to be able to watch people be just as excited as you are, playing with them and talking to them and listening to me tell them all about their “quirks and perks”. Knowing they would soon find their forever home, made leaving them a lot easier 🐈🐾🖤🤍🤎🐾🐈‍⬛
It truly takes a village, commitment (even when you want to throw the towel in, you do it anyway), determination (even when everything feels like it is impossible, you do it anyway). Because at the end of the day, it will be and has always been for “The Animals”. Now they have a chance to warm over the heart of their new family. ❤️🤍💚🎅🏻 Happy lives to our crew, we wish you all the best. And we definitely want to thank each and every one of you that took the time to help and make this happen ❤️

Friday the 13th proved to be a very lucky 🍀 day 🐶🐾 23 (TWENTY THEEE ) 🗣️ 23 !!! of our amazingly awesome, beautiful, sweet, funny, outgoing, playful, loving dogs, started making their way up North with one of our very own shelter staff. They arrived safely, happy and healthy. Most have already had tons of applications, some have already made their way to their forever families and some are being loved on and played with by their shelter staff waiting for meet and greets 🐾🐶🤍 it is always exciting when others see what we do in our Shelter animals and have to have them. A lot goes into getting the animals ready and loaded for a transport, it take hundreds of hours, combined effort from Staff members and animals, lots of play groups, pictures and videos, and lots of sacrificed sleep hours 😁 but in the end, IT IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE WORTH IT 🐾🐶🤍
Having such a wonderful support system from up North, the shelters knowing how wonderful the animals are in GA and recognizing the crisis we are in and going above and beyond to help us, between last weekend and this weekend, 40 of our amazing animals made their way up north and we couldn’t be happier 🐾🤎🐶🤍 Happy tails to our shelter kids on their new journey to their forever homes 🎄❄️🎅🏻 and just in time for the Holidays 🎄❄️🎅🏻 ❤️🤍💚 we couldn’t be more grateful and excited and we definitely cannot thank our rescue partners enough 🐾🤎🤍🐶 Now go live your best life- you will forever be missed

“Ser Henry” 🤎🤍 and his dad (Edward McCoy III) wanted to come visit. Of course we tried to keep Henry 😁 but our efforts failed us !! 🐾🤎🤍 Edward asked if he could give back to the shelter for Christmas 🎄 ❄️ 🎅🏻, he asked what we needed most and went above and beyond for us. Edward and Henry’s donation of Blankets, treats and toys is absolutely amazing and we cannot thank them enough 🥰 To the staff, the animals are not just that, they mean the world to us and we want to keep them as happy and healthy as possible. With donations like this, we are able to keep them busy, reward them for good behavior and learning new things, and we are able to keep them comfortable and warm. 🐾🤎🤍 We cannot thank you enough, Edward and Henry for going above and beyond for the Shelter pets ❄️🎅🏻🎄
