Animal chiropractic has attracted much attention on social media, and I'm glad for the visibility! It's helping people find chiropractic as an option for their animal and find me. However, there are *too many* unlicensed and non-certified people without the proper training manipulating animals for the likes. I receive videos almost daily asking, "Is this what it's really like?" Usually my answer is, "NO, it is not."

Chiropractic adjustments create ease in the body. When done well, it's gentle, honoring, and may or may not be associated with a "pop" noise. Spoiler: even the "cracks" you hear in videos on social media are added through editing.

Only licensed chiropractors and veterinarians certified in animal chiropractic should be providing animal adjustments, so please check the source. The most popular videos I receive are of a man adjusting dogs in Europe with hilarious dubs added. While they seem lighthearted and funny, his approach is incredibly dangerous for both him and the dog. Gross manipulations performed by untrained individuals can cause serious injury. **

The FDA just published a letter to veterinarians warning them *for the first time* about possible reactions to Librela, a monoclonal antibody injectable intended to reduce pain.

When Librela came on the market, it was touted as a risk-free solution to chronic musculoskeletal pain in dogs (Solensia is the same medication for cats), but pet parents and veterinarians have been reporting serious adverse reactions that they were not expecting. I believe that I have seen adverse reactions including seizure and death linked to Librela in several of my own patients. I have also seen several do seemingly well. My concern has been that informed consent requires education on the risks.

As an IVCA certified animal chiropractor, I do not advise on or manage medications. Please talk to your veterinarian if your pet is receiving Librela injections or your are considering it as an option for pain management.

The FDA has identified and analyzed adverse events in dogs treated with Librela (bedinvetmab injection).

Life is Motion🌟

Jackson knew something wasn’t right when his heifer’s gait, behavior, and ability to stand comfortably in show stance started to change. Dr. Shelli, Douglas Animal Chiropractic and Jackson were all hands on deck, (pun intended) explaining the mechanics of the pelvis, showing Jackson the difference in motion and palpation between both sides.

By the end, the heifer’s posture, attitude, and mobility transformed, and she easily stepped into her show stance.

Sometimes, a little motion makes all the difference!

Spent my morning loving on the sweetest soul, Don Arturro (aka Artie). Despite the cold and wind, his warmth and relentless nuzzles made me want to snuggle him forever. Watching him enjoy his chiropractic adjustment—with licks, chews, and big yawns as his nervous system thanked us—was pure magic.

Today, our hearts feel heavy with my friends and family members who held space for one of their pups, Gunner, who crossed Rainbow Bridge. He was more than just a pet; he was a cherished member of our chiropractic family, bringing joy and companionship into our lives. Gunner held a special place in my heart as my first chiropractic pup, study/teaching partner, and the best eventing buddy I could ask for. The joy on his face when he greeted everyone, especially the children, made every local connection unforgettable. His playful spirit and excitement as we arrived at various events, proudly wearing the "Ask me about my favorite chiropractor" shirt, brought smiles and warmth to everyone he encountered. Gunner was truly a social butterfly, craving as much love as he freely gave.

As Gunner’s vibrant spirit crosses Rainbow Bridge, know that he leaves paw prints on our hearts that will forever guide us, even in his absence. His passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of both his family and ours. He was truly fortunate to have the best paw-parents who loved and cared for him with exceptional devotion.

Gunner, thank you for the unconditional love you shared so generously; we will forever cherish the memories we made together. My dear friends, I am sending you prayers of peace, support, and healing during this difficult time.

In Loving Memory of Noah

Today, we share the heartbreaking news that our dear friend and cherished practice member, Noah, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈

Noah was special—an old soul housed in a body that was younger than his mind, with eyes that spoke of wisdom well beyond his years. His warm presence illuminated our days, and his gentle spirit brought endless joy and comfort to everyone he encountered.

Noah taught us the true essence of unconditional love and friendship. His absence leaves an indelible mark on our hearts and our office feels a little less bright without him.

While we mourn his passing, we take solace in the thought that Noah is now free from pain, running joyfully on all four legs beneath the beautiful arches of the rainbow bridge. 🌈

It's days like today that make you appreciate having the best job in the world. 🐐💖

Today was a fabulous day at Laughing Creek Pastures, where I had the pleasure of working with Angora Goats for the first time! These beautiful souls are as feisty as they are loving. Did you know the fleece from Angora Goats, known as Mohair, comes from the Arabic word "Mukhaya," meaning 'cloth of bright lustrous goat hair'? Each goat produces about 5.3 pounds of this luxurious fleece per shearing, and they’re sheared twice a year. Both bucks (males) and does (females) have horns; the bucks usually have a pronounced spiral to the horn, while the female's horns are comparatively short and straight.
