A Florida woman decided to shoot a dog with a crossbow after it peed on her car tire.
The 37-year-old woman justified her actions by saying that she didn’t actually mean to hit the animal, only to frighten it of her yard.
The arrow hit the lab right in the head, teaching this dog a lesson, and then some. Widely-circulated photos of the injury show an arrow protruding from the lab’s forehead, leading the poor pup to be nicknamed “Unicorn” by rescuers.
According to Wilson, the 4-year-old lab initiated the incident by lunging at her disabled daughter, and supposedly had a history of mischief after killing other animals in her yard. “The dog doesn’t want to leave, so I grabbed a crossbow, my intentions were not to kill the dog, but to try to get the message across, ‘Get out the yard!”

No matter where they’re located, shelters across the country are drowning in a sea of unadopted animals. As excruciating as it’s been to navigate this crisis, staff members and volunteers are hopeful that the public will come together to help needy animals in their cities.
Finding adoptive and foster homes for shelter animals is the best way to help mitigate the overcrowding crisis. People who can’t adopt or foster can still help by donating to their local shelters or volunteering their time.
“If you can’t bring an animal home at all, even temporarily, you can volunteer in a shelter. Every single interaction these dogs get makes them happier, fulfilled and leads to a much quicker adoption. Every single hour donated changes their lives.”
Below are some of the dogs that are available for adoption at Lukes Hidden Haven.
