Everyone meet Coen! He is a kitten that came to us last week, and Coen needs your help! When Coen came to us, it was apparent that he had some very severe injuries to his hind leg and tail and needed to be seen by a vet. The Humane Society of Rome is very happy to report that Coen is doing very well, and was strong enough to go through surgery to get his leg amputated! Our shelter is holding a medical fundraiser, to help cover the expense of Coen’s medical care. By donating to our medical fund, you will help animals like Coen get the extra TLC that they need while in the shelter! Any amount that you donate to the medical fund goes a long way for the animals that need it. The Humane Society of Rome wants to send a humongous THANK YOU to Dr. Price and the staff at Clinton Pet Vet. Our animals and staff are forever grateful for their continuous support, kindness, and incredible compassion. Donate to a good cause and help save our shelter animal’s lives!
The moment you all have been waiting for has arrived! THANK YOU!!!!! To everyone who donated to Shelby’s care! You guys helped Shelby immensely, as her mouth will feel so much better! Congratulations to Patricia Hall for winning the quilt drawing. Our staff will be in contact with you so you can pick up your prize for donating!!! Thank you all again for your continued support of the Humane Society of Rome 🥰
The Humane Society of Rome wanted to give the community a great update on Momma! Thanks to all of the wonderful contributions that you all have made to the medical fund, Momma was able to have her surgery funded. She had the procedure yesterday, and is recovering very well! Here she is receiving a small break from her cone, and Momma wanted to show everyone how well she was doing. This is all thanks to YOU, and your support of our animals care! The staff at the Humane Society and Momma wanted to send out a special thank you to the staff at Clinton Pet Vet and Dr. Price as they were a big part of making her surgery go as smooth as possible. The Humane Society of Rome is happy to report that what we thought was a possible mammary mass was actually just encapsulated tissue, and Momma also had a hernia repair along with that being removed. All of this could not have been done without your support of the medical fund, and our staff greatly thanks you for helping Momma in her time of need! Don't forget that you can still make a difference in our animal's lives by donating to our growing medical fund. This can help many of our animals like Momma, who may need the extra TLC during their stay at the shelter. The Humane Society of Rome will always remember your generous support! 💖
Check out our dogs that are going to be at the dog adoption event TOMORROW! (Saturday, May 4th). The event will be from 10-4 at Kennedy Arena (500 W. Embargo St.), and some of our available dogs would love to meet you! Find your furry furever friend if you are looking to add a dog to your family!
We unfortunately were not able to get ahold of the previous winner… So… We spun the wheel again for the quilt!Thank you again for all of your donations to the medical fund, and for contributing the money for Momma’s surgery. It means so much to all of us! CONGRATULATIONS to Robert Cooley for being the new winner of our beautiful handmade quilt!
CONGRATULATIONS ⭐️ to the winner of our quilt raffle for Momma’s surgery! We would love to thank everyone for their very generous contributions for Momma and other animals in need. The Humane Society of Rome was truly touched with how many people pitched in for our medical fund. You will be helping so many future animals in need!!! Sending many thanks again 🥰
We at the The Humane Society of Rome love to see videos of our Doggy’s Day Out! Last week three of our shelter dogs enjoyed some time out of the kennel for some nice times. Here is Syon’s day! Interested in our Doggy’s Day Out program? Stop by the shelter! We would love to let you know more about the program, and to possibly get you started in the process!
Truce had his first very successful Doggy Day Out a couple of days ago!!! Here was his experience: Right after pulling out of HSR, I laid right down and made myself comfortable. It was a very cold & windy day, so we made a brief pit top at Lee Town Park. After the park, I got to go to my friend for the day’s home. I wasn’t shy of the couch, as you can see! I loved rolling around in the blankets and playing with my toys. The very cold day made for a great nap! (can you tell by my snoring??) I was pretty curious about what was on TV, too! I’m also very good at giving out kisses as you can see! My friend can’t wait to take me out again for another day out 🥰
Snowflakes lead to… lots of Holiday Cheer! The dogs were so happy for the first snowfall of the season!! They also wanted to remind you that all of our dogs have HALF OFF their adoption fees until December 24th. This gives you plenty of time to find your furever friend at the Humane Society of Rome! We are open Tuesday-Saturday from 11-4:30. Come on by!
Fetch Jimmie, fetch!! Jimmie is a 6 month old kitten, who is very playful! He sure loves attention, and would appreciate someone who would spend lots of time with him! Our hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 11-4:30!
Happy Thanksgiving from the animals (past and present) at the Humane Society of Rome! The animals and Staff are SO very thankful for all of the support this year. Thank you to all of the donators, the sponsors, and all of the wonderful volunteers that have dedicated their time to our animals. We hope you have a wonderful day with your families and have some GREAT meals! We are closed today so the staff can have some time with their families, and we open again on Friday (11-4:30) - hope to see you then!
Go into fall with a new friend, they can help you with all your pumpkin fun! Especially with Halloween right around the corner 😉 Look at all the help they can be! A new dog can also keep you warm as the weather gets cold! Please come to Humane Society of Rome for more information! And thank you so much Pumpkin Head Farm for all their generous donations of the pumpkins! 🎃
Meet some of our other cats in other places around our shelter!!!! Some of our cats get quite nervous in large groups, but in a smaller crowd they fit right in! While they may be a tiny bit more reserved than our main colony cats, they deserve just as good of a home 🥰 Are you interested in one of them? Stop by our shelter! The staff would love for you to get to know them. Our hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 11-4:30!
These two beautiful girls Lonnie and Athena are still searching for their furever home together!!! These two are attached at the hip, and have a lot of love to give to someone. Looking for a pair of dog companions? Come visit with them! Here they are showing off how they can sit and give paw, and how gentle they take their reward!
Everybody meet our boy Trooper!!! He currently resides as our house dog, as the kennels were a bit too overwhelming for him. Trooper is a very special dog, and is looking for a companion that he could spend a lot of time with!! The staff really enjoys him during the long days, as he is GREAT company! For tricks, he can sit and shake, and he is housebroken. He gets along very well with our house cats, so we do think that he would do well in a home with some cat friends as well. Trooper is a SUPER good dog, and we would love him to find his furever family!! Ask our kennel attendant about him - or our other dogs that are available in our kennel and she would be glad to tell you more about them!!!
Some attempted box time fun with the dogs! We have a wide variety of pups to choose from - most big and some small! Stop by to see what we have and probably meet your furever friends 🥰 Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 11-4:30
What better way for the dogs to spend their summertime than in the POOL?!?!? ☀️ Our dogs are looking for a nice home to end off their summer! Just a reminder that we are doing a CLEAR THE SHELTER starting August 22nd through the 31rst so ALL of our dogs will be half priced. Hope to see you then!!
