If you are looking for a dog that’s just as fun as his name, then you’ve come to the right place! Porkchop is one energetic lad who loves to run and chase any toys that he can fetch, like tennis balls or rubber toys. He is certainly a dog that is full of energy, which means he will lighten any room and put a smile on your face! He is a 3 year old mixed breed dog, who is on the smaller size of medium. While at the shelter, he had a long journey at first. After his intake, he started to become very overstimulated back in the kennels, but now through positive behavior modification he has come a long way and can manage being in the shelter environment a lot better. He also learned how to sit and wait, always trying to please the staff! Porkchop has a prey drive, so he may want to chase small animals, and should not go to a home with cats. He is neutered, and all of his vaccinations are up to date. He has also been dewormed and flea treated! The Humane Society of Rome is thrilled to let the community know that if you adopt a pet during their very own featured week, Victory Chrysler Dodge of Rome will generously be sponsoring half of their adoption fee! Marigold is a very gorgeous dog who resides at the Humane Society of Rome, you could say that she’s almost as pretty as the flower that she is named after! Marigold is one playful girl, and would get the zoomies all day if she could! Her favorite toys to play with are stuffed animals, and she would not complain if she had an abundance of those in her new home. Overall, Marigold is the definition of a good dog, and she is very good at listening when playtime is over. If you’re looking for a dog that is very soft but is also very sweet, she may be the one for you! Marigold is a medium mixed breed, who is around 1 year old. Marigold has been dewormed, vaccinated, and flea treated during her time here at the shelter. Come meet Marigold today! Our hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11 to 4:30. The donations from this event went to our shelter. If there’s any words to describe Creed, it’s big, beefy, and STRONG! Creed is a big boy, but he also has the biggest heart! There isn’t anything he wants more to be loved by his forever family. Creed enjoys playtime with toys in the yard, and he’ll throw his toys up in the air for playtime. He can be such a goofball! When he gets warm, Creed will go sit in the pool to cool off! Creed would do best in a home with children aged 16 and up. When it comes to other dogs, Creed would need a meet and greet as he can be dog selective. Creed is around 2 years old, and has been vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated during his stay at the Humane Society of Rome. He has also been neutered. Lonnie and Athena are some of our favorite girls back in the kennel!! Frienship is a state of mutual trust and support. That’s something that Lonnie and Athena have taught us very well during their time here. Lonnie and Athena are looking for someone to love them almost as much as they love eachother! They are our only bonded pair in the kennels, and they truly are attached to the hip. They both really like attention and pets, Athena is super outgoing and is always willing to follow Lonnie. Though we don’t quite know how they are related, it is believed that Athena is the mom and Lonnie is the daughter. Athena is a bit calmer than Lonnie, but still will go along with her shenanigans. They both are your own personal lawn mowers, and will not hesitate to eat grass while they’re outside in nice weather. Throughout their time here at the shelter, we have grown to love how much Athena and Lonnie care for each other. They are both young adults, and are a beautiful brown color. Lonnie and Athena would love a home where they could go on lots of adventures together! Athena and Lonnie have made great improvements with their leash walking skills during their time at the shelter and the both of them also know how to sit, shake, and paw. They are spayed and up to date with their vaccinations. They have also been dewormed and flea treated. The Humane Society of Rome’s hours are from 11-4:30 Tuesdays through Saturdays. Everyone meet Coen! He is a kitten that came to us last week, and Coen needs your help! When Coen came to us, it was apparent that he had some very severe injuries to his hind leg and tail and needed to be seen by a vet. The Humane Society of Rome is very happy to report that Coen is doing very well, and was strong enough to go through surgery to get his leg amputated! Our shelter is holding a medical fundraiser, to help cover the expense of Coen’s medical care. By donating to our medical fund, you will help animals like Coen get the extra TLC that they need while in the shelter! Any amount that you donate to the medical fund goes a long way for the animals that need it. The Humane Society of Rome wants to send a humongous THANK YOU to Dr. Price and the staff at Clinton Pet Vet. Our animals and staff are forever grateful for their continuous support, kindness, and incredible compassion. Donate to a good cause and help save our shelter animal’s lives!

The Humane Society of Rome wanted to give the community a great update on Momma! Thanks to all of the wonderful contributions that you all have made to the medical fund, Momma was able to have her surgery funded. She had the procedure yesterday, and is recovering very well! Here she is receiving a small break from her cone, and Momma wanted to show everyone how well she was doing. This is all thanks to YOU, and your support of our animals care! The staff at the Humane Society and Momma wanted to send out a special thank you to the staff at Clinton Pet Vet and Dr. Price as they were a big part of making her surgery go as smooth as possible. The Humane Society of Rome is happy to report that what we thought was a possible mammary mass was actually just encapsulated tissue, and Momma also had a hernia repair along with that being removed. All of this could not have been done without your support of the medical fund, and our staff greatly thanks you for helping Momma in her time of need! Don't forget that you can still make a difference in our animal's lives by donating to our growing medical fund. This can help many of our animals like Momma, who may need the extra TLC during their stay at the shelter. The Humane Society of Rome will always remember your generous support! 💖

Truce had his first very successful Doggy Day Out a couple of days ago!!! Here was his experience: Right after pulling out of HSR, I laid right down and made myself comfortable. It was a very cold & windy day, so we made a brief pit top at Lee Town Park. After the park, I got to go to my friend for the day’s home. I wasn’t shy of the couch, as you can see! I loved rolling around in the blankets and playing with my toys. The very cold day made for a great nap! (can you tell by my snoring??) I was pretty curious about what was on TV, too! I’m also very good at giving out kisses as you can see! My friend can’t wait to take me out again for another day out 🥰
Snowflakes lead to… lots of Holiday Cheer! The dogs were so happy for the first snowfall of the season!! They also wanted to remind you that all of our dogs have HALF OFF their adoption fees until December 24th. This gives you plenty of time to find your furever friend at the Humane Society of Rome! Everybody meet our boy Trooper!!! He currently resides as our house dog, as the kennels were a bit too overwhelming for him. Trooper is a very special dog, and is looking for a companion that he could spend a lot of time with!! The staff really enjoys him during the long days, as he is GREAT company! For tricks, he can sit and shake, and he is housebroken. He gets along very well with our house cats, so we do think that he would do well in a home with some cat friends as well. Trooper is a SUPER good dog, and we would love him to find his furever family!! Ask our kennel attendant about him - or our other dogs that are available in our kennel and she would be glad to tell you more about them!!!
