I am still trying to find the right home for Johnny. Johnny is an almost 1 year old neutered male. He was returned by his originally puppy family after their health declined and some behavioral issues arose. Johnny is a very friendly and enthusiastic boy. He doesn’t always think before he acts or reacts. He can be overly excited when meeting new people and dogs. He had a bad experience with an Aussie when younger so if a dog reacts aggressively towards him, he immediately defends. Johnny doesn’t have the best manners, especially when meeting a new dog and can come on very strong, which causes some dogs to be defensive. He has does fine with very submissive females that can ignore his young annoying male traits (mounting). He hasn’t been loose with a female since being neutered however so he may have calmed down with that. We’ve had him evaluated and he is very intelligent but needs a firm handler who will set and enforce the rules with him. He knows some obedience and tricks. He is crate and potty trained. He can be loud in a crate but will settle when no one is around (he just wants to be with people). He’s fine for grooming (bathing, brushing, nails) but does not like the hand dryer. We’ve been told that he has nipped people but never broken the skin and don’t have specifics if it was during play, trying to herd/get attention, if he was over stimulated/excited, etc. He has not displayed it with us. He would do best without kids or other dogs (would be fine with a submissive female) and not sure how he does with cats. He is being boarded at this time and is not receiving the one-on-one work that he desperately needs.
