I am not a dog. I am an Australian Shepherd. I'm half wolverine, half barb wire and all attitude. I am either your best friend or your worst enemy, depending on YOUR attitude. I can herd the wildest cows or the gentlest sheep with equal determination. I can work all day in snow storms, pouring rain or blistering heat and then ask you to throw the ball when we get done. I will argue with you at every turn. After all, I know what I'm doing and the best way to getter done. I am easy to feed. I will eat your steak or the dead, rotten gopher I found in the field. You will never be without a navigator in the truck. I will protect you from burglars, grizzly bears, badgers and that strange shadow in the corner of the barn. I will hog the bed and the couch. I will steal your sandwich, your chair, your boot and your heart. You will never have to go to the bathroom alone. I will lick your face right after I eat fresh cow s**t. I will sleep next to you when you are sick and heal you with my love. Respect me. Love me. But NEVER underestimate me.

Every night I feed Chase last. And tonight his sad stare while I fed goats and he saw his food sitting, he patiently sat and wait but he was definitely feeling left out as he watched me grain the bum kids… and God gave me a moment with it, sometimes God “feeds us last”. He doesn’t forget about us. He doesn’t give us any less. He just feeds us last.

See Chase is the most important part of the goat operation. Without him there’s no grazing. Without him coyotes would literally try to jump into the barn!!
But Chase doesn’t understand that he’s the most important. He just sees he gets fed last.
Why does he get fed last? Because otherwise my dang goats would try to MOB his food. He’d spend time chasing them off it so he could eat in peace.
Otherwise I am running around with baby goats yelling at me and I can’t spend real time with him.
Otherwise he’s not guaranteed to get a nice peaceful meal!!

See every night I feed the goats so they’re happy and distracted - so I can pet him and we do a little happy food dance and I make sure he’s good before I feed him…. I check that his hot spots are still gone, no injuries and I make sure he’s good. I give him some love, thank him for good work and I feed him.
If I didn’t feed him last, I wouldn’t be able to do that.
He doesn’t understand that without feeding the goats first I couldn’t do that cuz they’d be mobbing us and being annoying!
Sometimes God feeds us last, and we may not understand His reasons - you not getting that job right away, the relationship you want takes longer to find, the baby you want so bad isn’t happening, your degree is taking way longer - whatever it maybe and you’re watching your friends/family have successes and blessing… sometimes God feeds us last for a REASON and we don’t understand His reason, but He has our best in mind!!!
