Rose's Rescue

Rose's Rescue RR is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 organization. We primarily rescue dogs from local shelters and place them in foster homes until adopted.

Rose's Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit rescue made up of a small group of volunteers, and no paid employees. All of our funds come from donations. Our dogs are in area foster homes. We do not have a shelter per se and only under special circumstances are any of our animals "kenneled". With few exceptions, they are very well-socialized with people and other animals, which makes it much easier to know

their temperaments. We do not often take owner surrenders, but we occasionally do courtesy posts for pets that are vetted (fixed and current on vaccinations/heartworm care) and in need of homes. How it all began:
It all started when founder Rose Sachs answered an ad in the local classifieds that said they could help a person find homes for unwanted pets. Rose had recently moved to a rural setting with some acreage, and had subsequently acquired 4 or 5 dogs that had been dropped off or that she'd found abandoned and was trying to find new homes for them. It was 2001, and she ended up partnering with the person who placed the ad, calling themselves "New Leash on Life." After about a year, they went their separate ways, but Rose continued her work re-homing pets in need. She found a few other like-minded people to help her - just one or two at the start, and Rose's Rescue was born. It took several years to grow into something more than just basically a few foster homes, but by 2004 had become a relatively cohesive group with a more defined process and mission. On October 10th of 2006, Rose's Rescue was officially granted it's 501c3 status. Since, then, we have continued to grow with more volunteers, a more structured operation, and more dogs under our care, We utilize modern technology with the implementation of a large database system (through rescuegroups.org), our own website, active page and busy event calendar. We strive to not only help the dogs we have rescued, but also work to support our local pounds where there is a need we can address, (provide vet transport, help to defray vet costs, etc), and work with other rescues and shelters in our area for the benefit of dogs in our greater community.

RIP sweet Elwood. You were well known where ever you visited. We could always hear you coming, that sweet hound music. Pulled from the dog pound, spending time in a wonderful foster home, and then came a special lady and you fell in love. Cheryl, we are so sorry for your loss, but so thankful for the wonderful life you gave this special boy! Rose calls him the king of the coonies, and you were his lady. We love you Cheryl and are here for you if you need anything. Zoom Zoom Elwood! ❤️

The Giving Tuesday tradition is upon us. Rose’s Rescue has taken in a higher-than-usual number of older dogs and ones in need of extensive veterinary care. Just in the last month or so, we’ve taken in six! Perhaps the most dramatic example of rescue at its best is our sweet Prince, who came to us last spring from a local pound. This poor boy was nothing bit skin stretched over his bones, had severe dry eyes, hearing loss, a matted coat and a terrible upper respiratory infection. He is now among the most spoiled of pooches with his perfect adopters, living a life of royalty that he deserves. After all, his name IS Prince! There are so many others, and kitties we’ve helped, too. This Tuesday, if you are considering a donation that can truly make a difference, consider Rose’s Rescue. Young, old, sick, or just homeless - their lives matter. Help us continue to help them. Thank you!

Many times people have left over cat or dog medications. Maybe consider donating them to a rescue. If you have anything like this you would like to donate, please feel free to drop them off at one of our events or the blue recycle bin at Rootstown Veterinary Hospital. We thank you in advance!

Senior Teddy needs a home!

This sweet senior boy was found wandering in a neighborhood in Mogadore Ohio. No owner came forward to claim him. The very kind lady that found him is now fostering him for Rose's Rescue. He needs a safe place to rest his head. Could that be your home? Teddy, estimated to be 13-14 yrs old. He is hearing impaired & sight impaired, & has arthritis, but other than that happy & healthy. He is available through Rose's Rescue.
