Got the barred rocks and Cornish cross moved to the barn coop over the past few days. Currently staying inside to acclimate and will be able to start ranging their chicken yard this weekend or next week.

Cornish cross and any barred rock roosters have a future freezer date.

Greetings from Witzend!

I apologize for the lack of postings as of late. It’s been very busy for us as we remodel our home and property. We’re still here with our lovable critters - goats, sheep, chickens, and a big fluffy Anatolian Pyrenees livestock guard dog, Ivory. Here are a few cute pictures from around the farm.

Big shout out to these fine folks! Awesome work!

Good evening folks, just a quick note. The critters LOVE visitors and especially treats. We appreciate it, too, and just wanted to remind folks that goats and sheep can eat pretty much any fruit or vegetable, raw or cooked, except for avocados. Bread/baked goods, while they will wolf them down, aren't the best for them and can actually make them sick. A vanilla wafer or small cookie now and then is okay, but fruits and veggies are best. :)

The critters have access to the front again and are enjoying the newly sprouted front field!

Just letting folks know that the goats and sheep have been in the back pastures this past week and will be this week. We reseeded the front pasture and it needs two weeks to get a good head start on growth. Everyone will be back up front next weekend.

🚨 CAUTION 🚨
Caterpillars like this saddleback (Acharia stimulea) have urticating hairs that deliver a painful sting. This is a toxic caterpillar, the bright aposematic coloring is a warning to predators and humans alike.

Make sure you support the fair auctions!

Fieri and a group of his friends visited the livestock auction over the weekend, buying 16 hogs to donate to local charities.

This young lady, Ms. Trinity Dunch, worked for us helping muck our barn and other farm related jobs last summer. When a 14 year old (now 15) kid is willing to shovel animal waste, straw and hay to achieve their dreams, they deserve to be recognized and rewarded. Please consider supporting her efforts to take a high school trip overseas?

Matthew Dunch and Bobbie Dunch raised a winner of a kid.

Don't be alarmed if you don't see the sheep for a few days after this weekend. The adults will be getting their yearly shearing and have to be inside the day before and then three days after to prevent sunburn. Fancy Lamb will be hanging with mama Patches and Leroy will be in a stall to himself. They'll see you all around mid-week!
