Two generations of Staunch dogs, owned by Wes Swee and Ben White, got together for a little bird hunting in Northern, MO. Left to right is Ember, Otto, Freya, Loki. Otto and Loki are brothers. Ember and Freya are sisters. Freya is the mother of Otto and Loki, making Ember their Aunt. 🥰 All bred to do what GSPs do best, which is not taking pictures. 🤣

It’s bird season! Staunch’s Navajo Woman “Greta” out of our May 2021 DC Kan-Point’s Summer in the City MH x Staunch’s Miss Superposed Reba JH Indian litter, in her first wild bird hunt with owner, Chad Ferrell, in South Dakota! Chad says she did great and he cannot wait to take her back. Our dogs get their own South Dakota trip in 3 weeks and this has Daniel itching to go. Congrats Chad! Looks like a successful hunt for both of you! Welcome to upland bird hunting addiction. 😅

It’s been quite a while since I’ve had the pleasure of working with some pups. This daughter of Dallas is showing amazing potential after only 4 bird sessions. She’s only a yr old and has more drive than the typical females I’ve got to work with. Michael Clapper

Little update on a Staunch and friends rescue mission from a year ago. Ursula was dumped at the vet clinic in Owensville, MO with no one coming forward to claim. Some say she has GSP in her, some say Dalmatian. Either way she needed a home and Staunch posted an SOS. A home was secured in MA and after coordinated efforts from several people, including an employee of St. Clair Pet Hospital, across the states and a couple legs of transport volunteered she made it home. A year later she is thriving and a loved member of a multi-pup home!

For those that do not know, transport is needed daily for pets that need saving from the euthanasia list or for life saving veterinary care and foster homes. Local FB groups are constantly looking for volunteers to transport animals in need. if this is your calling please join the group and volunteer when you can!

Dog Momma to Freya!

Well now that opening day and the floods are behind us it's time to recognize one of our own. Kendra Swee, Interpretive Services Coordinator for the park, was awarded the Conservation Educator of the year by the Conservation Federation of Missouri last month. Kendra is responsible for all of the great educational programs, tours, trails, pollinator gardens, and museums you can enjoy while at Maramec Spring Park. Congratulations Kendra!!
