Pippin enjoyed a new treat to keep him occupied during the beginning of our lesson.
Treats that are larger and take a little while to get through are great treats to have on hand for redirection. Pippin gets very excited when people come to his home. This treat helped him settle down quickly so we could get right to training.
I think all the work I put into socialization and training with Jonah early on has paid off. Taking a snooze during a Marching Band performance.
These 2 pups are working with me on leash manners, socialization and exposure. We found something noisey and let them take it in and explore while also making it a positive experience with treats. They are both looking for homes! If you are interested in some sweet and very resilient puppies, let me know so I can get you in contact with their breeder.
What is one goal you have for your dog this week?
Throwback to a few years ago with our doodle mutt Pearl. She lived to a ripe old age of 17. So thankful for her teaching and guiding my way to be a dog trainer. She passed away last month.
I have openings for dog training lessons! Message me for more info.
Want to learn a bit about service dogs? This is going to be a story of my own personal dogs.
Yesterday after a long walk outside, Jonah alerted to a cardiac episode. I checked my new Smart watch when it hit 100bpm. He is accurately alerting at 100 bpm. It quickly rose to 120 bpm, only to come crashing down into the 60s.. Lulu also alerted around the time I started checking my watch. So I hunkered down on the couch to lay down through my symptoms. Both dogs provide comfort to me at that time.
This is life managing dysautonomia symptoms with lifestyle choices and valuable medical equipment.
Both Lulu and Jonah learned these tasks from a combination of natural instincts and scent training. I have helped clients train their own dogs alerts! It's so amazing the things these dogs can do!
So thankful for the security and peace of mind my dogs give me.
Oliver's first elevator ride! I let puppies be curious about new experiences to build confidence. He rode in elevators half a dozen times today. What a good boy!
My long term, service dog clients get some special privileges from time to time.
Service dog in training, Oliver, came and spent a few hours with me while his mom went to her college class! I do structured daycare for my very special clients when requested and agreed upon. This man got lots of practice with a variety of skills, with a focus on building his toy drive.
Message Jammin' Kennels for details on these guys!
Working on pattern games with Oliver to help refine leash skills. This man is doing such a good job! His momma should be very proud of his progress.
Went on a short but successful off leash "sniffari" with my boy today.
