Peanut, who was known as Autumn when she was with us, is lost in Myrtle Creek. She had just moved to Waite St from Bond St. so please keep an eye around that general area. She is a young, spayed female. Very pretty and the pictures don't do her justice. She is microchipped. Please call or message us if you see her. Thank you! 541-529-9616

Got Rats? We got cats!
Need barn cats? Too many mice and need them taken care of without poisons? Please consider adopting a "working cat" from us. We are working on several area colonies where the cats can't remain where they are and be safe. Please call 541-529-9616 or message us here on Facebook. (Pictures are not current)

We were called today about a very sick abandoned kitten. Although we are very overwhelmed with cats/kittens we had to jump in. Huge Thank you to the foster for stepping up! He is one sick little one. If he makes it, he may lose an eye.

Update 9/10/24: He's been wormed, defleaed, antibiotic, high calorie food, fluids. .97 of a pound. He ate on his own this morning. The eye will definitely have to removed but his foster is just trying to keep him alive for now. Gums still white.

Update 9/12/24: eating on his own, playing some. Top of his mouth and paw pads are a faint pink now, not completely white. Not out of the woods completely but doing better!

Things to watch for in our pets. We know you don't want them in pain.

September is Animal Pain Awareness Month. Animals suffer from pain just as people do. Acute pain is obvious and distressing. Chronic pain can be subtle, and masked as “getting old” or “slowing down.” Old age is not a disease, but pain is. If your pet shows these signs of pain, please see your veterinarian for an exam. The good news is that there are many options to treat the various causes of pain in animals, including pain medications, physical rehabilitation, acupuncture, laser therapy, and therapeutic massage.

This is our very handsome Jack! He needs a very special adopter or foster to work with him. Although he loves, loves, loves attention but he also has a very strong "flee instinct". Everything startles him and he takes off. He flops over when he is pet, loves to play with toys and is just an overall great boy. He just won't ditch that instinct to run & hide. If you are interested in him, please call us at 541-529-9616 or message us here on FB.

We're still in need of people to clean the cat cages at the Roseburg Petco. Right now, the only days we need someone is Monday AM & Friday PM. If you can help, please let us know by messaging here. You get to visit with all the cats & kittens and enjoy their company while you work! Maybe 2 hours each time but it's unpredictable, probably not that much. Thank you so much!
PS - Izzy is for adoption!

Reminder that these two are still at the Roseburg Petco. We would really love to see them in a home.

This pair of brothers are great! They might have to think about their new people just a little bit but then their personalities come out! They are both energetic and playful. Will keep you entertained for hours. We are not requiring that they be adopted together but we do always encourage kittens to be adopted in pairs. That way they can wreak havoc on each other instead of the curtains! Please consider one or both if you are looking for a new family member. If you are interested, please message us through Facebook or call 541-529-9616. DOB: 4/13/24

" Meet Oolong! She’s a little cat that needs some time and patience before she’ll start to come out of her shell. Once she does, she’ll follow you everywhere. Miss ‘Long is an incredibly affectionate cat that wants to participate in everything you’re doing. She’ll require gentle introduction to new things, especially if they make noises, and some comfort if they startle her. Oolong has the loudest purr I have ever heard- I’ve heard it two rooms over before!

While she’s sleepy and still wants attention she’ll gently grab a hand or finger and bring it to her face for a snuggle. She loves to sleep in small, hidden places with blankets, towels, and socks. She has snuck out to steal an errant washcloth by night to add to her hidden nest because it smells like the people she likes. She adores a tunnel, paper bags, a ribbon and mouse wands; all the better if it makes a jingling sound. Her favorite scratchers are a jute rope and a wood scratcher, but she has little interest in cardboard. Turntable toys, fake mice, stuffed kickers, and tennis balls are other favorite toys until they startle her. Oolong has yet to figure out she can jump and prefers hooking her front paws over the edge of something and frantically kicking her back legs until she hauls herself up.

Oolong is very playful and has decided to tell me when she wants to play by shouting at me and whapping her paws at her favorite toy of the day. She has only recently learned that she can pounce on her toys and that brown paper makes a fantastic crinkly sound. She is learning to mind her manners with her claws, but we’ve got a ways to go. She has a funny way of telling folks when she’s done being petted- Miss ‘Long will stand up on her hind legs and start boxing with both paws.

She is extraordinarily food motivated and has a history of being bullied away from her food by other cats. She would benefit most from scheduled feeding in separate bowls that is supervised to prevent that from happening. She will attempt to steal from other food bowls as well, but she is easily distracted from doing so. Her previous and current fosters have had her around other cats and dogs. She gets along well with both, most of the time. Oolong would function best in a new home with a gradual introduction to other cats or other dogs due to her history being bullied and harassed by other animals. Currently she hasn’t figured out how to play or wrestle with other cats but otherwise gets on quite well with other animals in the house. Given some time and patience, Oolong could be a wonderful and loving addition to your home!"

These pictures really don't do our beautiful Izzy justice. She is such a great girl. All of her siblings have been adopted and she is more than ready for a home of her own. Does great with other cats, does very well with her fosters medium sized dogs. Slow introductions are always needed, however. She's funny to watch at the Petco events as she sits and talks to some of the dogs walking by. She would love a playmate as that is what she is used to and may get bored on her own. She’s a love bug. She is not currently at Petco so if you are interested please call us or message us on FB.

Helping Animals Find New Homes Since 1991!

The New Beginnings SPCA is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that operates solely on donations. We are also a no-kill organization, which means animals are never euthanized simply because they are homeless or have behavioral problems. We euthanize only if there are serious health issues that are not treatable and the animal is suffering. We do not euthanize for Felv or FIV.
