I am a RESCUE BIRD- I am MIGHTY MAXIMUS -
My name is Mighty Maximus, but most people call me Max or Yogurt for short. I am a 20+ year old wild caught, double yellow headed male amazon. I was dropped off at a local parrot rescue where I met the most wonderful and compassionate people. The care was amazing, food was awesome, good housekeeping-clean cage-, amazing room service and lots of buddies to talk too! Prior to meeting my family I was in 2 different homes before I made my way to the rescue. I was either too loud or too aggressive per my prior owners , c’mon REALLY ME? Nah!!! A very nice family adopted me from the rescue and then later returned me, I didn’t like his wife. What can I say.... I don’t like women, especially my GRANDMA! I was adopted one last time to my current family while they were volunteering at the rescue. I bonded with my best friend Anthony, which I call Toe Toe or Tony- I hear grandma calling his name all day long. Best part about my new home is I can be as loud and talkative as I would like, they actually think I’m hilarious! My family continues to foster/rehabilitate birds for the rescue as needed. My grandma has adopted a few birds that require special care and are not suitable for everyday adopters- special needs/mutilators/plucked birds etc. and one very grumpy Male Umbrella Cockatoo. I spend a good part of my day plotting on my grandma, I try to sneak attack her from the floor but she always catches me in the act. I can’t help but laugh when I get close enough to get her! I love spending my days with amazon buddies that come into the rescue, I enjoy having talking competitions with them.... Believe me I always get the last word too. On occasion, an amazon will come in and will come head to head with me in my talking battles. When this happens, I pout for a few days and give him/her the EVIL EYE. My family says I sound like a nagging mom/wife.... LOL... their guess is that I came from a home w/kids and and overworked MOM! I tend to yell out things like, turn off the lights, put your shoes on, lock the back door, get over here, It’s not fair and so much more. My family is amazed that I am still picking up new words at my age. Hope you enjoy the page my family and I have created for you. Please feel free to share any posts about your pet birds as well!
