Blue Oaks Veterinary Clinic was founded by Dr. Omar Cabrera and Dr. Aileen Thompson in 2017. After working together at another local clinic for five years, Dr. Thompson an Cabrera merged their dreams of practice ownership to create Blue Oaks Veterinary Clinic. Our goal is to treat you and your animals as our family, and to provide high quality medical care with state-of-the-art equipment to small animals, exotics, and avian species in Roseville and the greater Sacramento area.

When Copper was nervous about having his eyes checked and didn’t want to go into the exam room, Dr. Thompson knew just what to do! She moved the exam to the bench in the lobby, where Copper felt more comfortable. We understand that every dog has their own unique feelings and experiences, and we’re committed to making each visit as stress-free as possible.

By respecting Copper’s boundaries and doing the exam in the lobby, we kept him calm and relaxed, ensuring a positive experience. We want our patients to know they’re safe and cared for and that their comfort always comes first. It also made things easier for his owner, who didn’t have to worry about pressuring Cooper to go into the exam room. This way, Copper will remember that his friends here respect his needs, and he’ll be happy to come back for future visits! ❤️

Kenji doesn’t warm up to everyone, but he’s got a special connection with Dr. Thompson! 🐾 Dr. Thompson has a way of earning every dog’s trust by meeting them where they’re at, carefully reading their cues and body language. With positive reinforcement and plenty of cuddles, it’s no wonder Kenji has a soft spot for her! We’re so proud of the bond they’ve built. 💖

Our bearded dragon patient listened intently while Joey shared medication instructions with its owner! It amused us how attentively the dragon was focused on Joey. It also went to show Joey's great communication skills, that even the animals want to hear what they have to say! We love how Joey advocates for animals, coordinating and educating pet owners on how to give them the best care. 💚

Henry, the Russian tortoise, is getting a trim from Dr. Thompson while Shannon provides gentle support. Regular beak and nail trims are essential for pet tortoises, as they don’t naturally wear them down like they would in the wild. Without proper maintenance, overgrowth can make it difficult for them to eat or move comfortably.

Owners can help by providing rough surfaces like slate or sandstone in their enclosures, which help naturally wear down beaks and nails. Proper care like this keeps tortoises like Henry healthy and thriving, and we’re thankful to his owner for collaborating with us in his care. 🐢✨

Meet our friend Ollie, our adorable polydactyl kitty with 7 toes! We know that while a nail trim might not seem like a big deal to us humans, it can be stressful for pets to have their paws touched. That's why Shannon made sure Ollie was cuddled and comforted the entire time, creating a homey and relaxed environment. We love seeing special pets like Ollie and making sure they feel safe and cared for!

We're excited to announce that we now offer laser therapy as part of our treatment options for pets! This comfortable and effective therapy is used to treat various conditions, including arthritis, wounds, and post-surgical healing, helping to promote healing and alleviate pain.

In the photo, Rebecca is cuddling pup Ruthie through her laser therapy session while Liz administers the treatment. Laser therapy works by using specific wavelengths of light to target damaged tissues and cells, reducing pain and inflammation. The sunglasses we wear during these sessions are to protect our eyes from the laser light. We're thrilled to provide this innovative treatment to our furry friends!
