Blue Oaks Veterinary Clinic was founded by Dr. Omar Cabrera and Dr. Aileen Thompson in 2017. After working together at another local clinic for five years, Dr. Thompson an Cabrera merged their dreams of practice ownership to create Blue Oaks Veterinary Clinic. Our goal is to treat you and your animals as our family, and to provide high quality medical care with state-of-the-art equipment to small animals, exotics, and avian species in Roseville and the greater Sacramento area.

We were thrilled to have Cooper join us for our Lunch and Learn! These sessions are a great way for our team to build motivation, learn, and recharge together. We’ve noticed that having a calm, friendly presence like Cooper around actually adds to the productivity of our meetings, creating a relaxed and positive atmosphere. Lunch and Learns are all about blending education with team bonding, and having Cooper’s sweet company was the perfect addition!

Meagan spent time comforting Marsik and using fear-free techniques to keep him calm and relaxed as he prepared for his neuter. Fear-free techniques involve gentle handling, positive reinforcement, and a calming environment to reduce stress and anxiety for pets during their visits. By making pets feel secure and supported, these methods help ensure a smoother experience and reduce the impact of stress on their health, especially before surgery. We spotted our clinic cat, Ferguson, hard at work on his laptop! He takes his job seriously (kind of) and was busy ""writing"" our annual reviews. He did mention that typing is a bit slow with paws, and he was getting a bit drowsy. We’re hoping he did a good job and appreciate all the effort, Ferg! 😹

Skye popped up to say hi to Blu, giving us all a good chuckle! Skye, our Practice Manager Lisa’s dog, was in for a check-up and spent the day “supervising” the team from the office. She loves saying hi by peeping over doors, keeping an eye on everyone, and making the clinic feel extra lively! 🐾💙

Kuma showed how relaxing and “cool” laser therapy can be during his session! 😎 Laser therapy is a pain-free treatment that helps reduce inflammation and promote healing. You can see from Kuma's loose posture that he's completely at ease. We love keeping our patients cozy and comfortable during their visits!

When Copper was nervous about having his eyes checked and didn’t want to go into the exam room, Dr. Thompson knew just what to do! She moved the exam to the bench in the lobby, where Copper felt more comfortable. We understand that every dog has their own unique feelings and experiences, and we’re committed to making each visit as stress-free as possible.

By respecting Copper’s boundaries and doing the exam in the lobby, we kept him calm and relaxed, ensuring a positive experience. We want our patients to know they’re safe and cared for and that their comfort always comes first. It also made things easier for his owner, who didn’t have to worry about pressuring Cooper to go into the exam room. This way, Copper will remember that his friends here respect his needs, and he’ll be happy to come back for future visits! ❤️
