UPDATE:
Good afternoon, it appears the intention of this post was misunderstood. The intention of this post was to inform our clients that a new stone was found and could be linked to a certain compound ( choline bitartrate). This compound is found in supplements as well as some foods. It was not intended to make it sound like a common issue or a reason for you to switch your pet's food without talking with your veterinarian. Thank you for all who kindly commented, clearing up some of these concerns. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to us or your family veterinarian.

BREAKING NEWS -- use caution when feeding your dog fresh food from brands such as The Farmers Dog, JustFoodForDogs and Nom Nom⚠️

The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine Urolith Center has discovered a NEW urinary stone and the likely causeπŸ”¬
The UMN Urolith Center is the laboratory we use for all bladder stone analysis that are conducted for HAH patients and we recently received notification of this new information.

These new stones are called "calcium tartrate tetrahydrate" (CTT) uroliths according to Dr. Lulich (co-director of UMN Urolith Center). Canine patients get "choline bitartrate" (the main compound in CTT uroliths) from fresh dog food and supplements recommended for dogs that eat homemade food.
The data collected by Dr. Lulich and his team showed a link between choline bitartrate found in some of the most popular fresh dog food brands -- including The Farmers Dog, JustFoodForDogs and Nom Nom -- and the newly discovered CTT uroliths.

This discovery was published in April 2025 in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

This little guy needs a new a home! Tommy is around 1-2 years of age, he has been neutered and had all his vaccines! Super friendly and outgoing, seems like he would be fine in a home with dogs. He will be microchipped upon adoption.

We are often asked by our pet owners if their pet is in pain. As veterinarians one of our primary goals for any office visit is to determine if there is a painful condition affecting your pet!

Animal hospitals around the world earn AAHA accreditation to strengthen their business, advance their team, and provide the best possible care to companion animals.

DO YOU KNOW THIS GAL????

Middle aged female dog was found in Delk Road in Marietta by one of our clients. She has no microchip. She is dirty and hungry but otherwise seems to be in good health and happy to have a warm bed to lay one. Please contact Roswell Veterinary if you know her family!

********* DISEEASE*******
There has been an increase in complex respiratory cases over the past year or so, with more dogs developing pneumonia or serious complications than is expected from typical causes of upper respiratory infection ("Kennel Cough"). Locally, we have seen some cases over the summer and fall that seem to fit this pattern, but we do NOT have any reason to believe that there is currently an outbreak in our area.
We will provide additional information as it comes available from reputable sources.
What should pet owners be aware of?
β€’ ISOLATE your pet if they develop a cough without known medical explanation. Coughing dogs should not be boarded in a kennel or exercised with other dogs as they could be exposed to other pathogens which could progress their disease and they pose a risk to other pets.
β€’ CONTACT your veterinarian if your pet develops a cough, and monitor for progressive signs such as loss of appetite, lethargy, depression, weakness or nasal discharge. A Pet ER visit might be necessary if after-hours.
β€’ VACCINATE your pet. Eliminating or reducing certain known infectious respiratory pathogens such as Distemper, Bordetella and Canine Influenza may provide protection against complicated disease.
β€’ RESTRCT your pet from dog parks, interaction with unknown dogs and public drinking bowls.

Our Mission

Welcome to Roswell Veterinary Associates! Our mission is to provide your pet with the best veterinary experience possible. We created our animal hospital to offer the Roswell community a modern veterinary facility where pets can receive top-notch medical care. In fact, we go above and beyondβ€”we're one of the few hospitals in the area offering laser therapy for healing and pain management, too.

Additionally, we have designed and built our animal hospital to meet the specific standards of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). What's more, we've also incorporated Fear Free Certified techniques to ensure our staff is trained to help every pet feel at ease, even cats. Our cat-friendly amenities are tailored to the comfort and security of your feline friends.

Pets are part of your family. We strive to provide the level and quality of care that your family members deserve.
