🦃🐾 Thanksgiving Pet Safety Tips: What Your Furry Friends Should Avoid! 🐾🦃

Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, and delicious feasts, but it’s important to remember our furry friends need special care during the festivities. Here are some common Thanksgiving items to keep out of reach from pets to ensure a safe and happy holiday for all:

Turkey Bones 🍗 Small bones can splinter and cause choking or digestive blockages. Stick to pet-safe treats instead!

Stuffing and Gravy 🥧 Ingredients like onions, garlic, and certain spices can be toxic to pets. Keep these tasty trimmings on the human table only.

Desserts 🍰 Chocolate, raisins, and artificial sweeteners like xylitol are harmful to pets. Opt for pet-friendly treats when it’s time for dessert.

Alcohol and Caffeinated Drinks 🍷☕ Even small amounts of alcohol or caffeine can be dangerous. Ensure all drinks are kept out of paw’s reach.

Leftover Fat and Grease 🍖 Fatty foods can lead to pancreatitis in pets. Avoid giving them scraps and stick to their regular diet.

Decorations and Wrappings 🎀 Curious pets might ingest decorations, causing blockages or choking hazards. Keep a close eye on those shiny objects!

Remember: When in doubt, consult your veterinarian if your pet gets into something they shouldn’t. Let’s keep our pets happy and healthy this Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all our two-legged and four-legged friends! 🍁🦃🐾

On September 11, 2001, nearly 300 specially trained search and rescue dogs were deployed to Ground Zero. These brave canines, alongside their handlers, worked tirelessly to locate survivors amidst the rubble of the World Trade Center. Among these heroes were Bretagne, a golden retriever on her first mission, and Trakr, a German Shepherd who discovered the last survivor. Their unwavering dedication and courage provided hope and comfort during one of America’s darkest days. Today, we remember and honor these four-legged heroes for their incredible service and sacrifice. 🐾❤️🤍💙

❣️The Importance of Vaccinating Your Pets:

🩺Vaccinating your pets is a crucial step in ensuring their long-term health and well-being. Vaccines protect pets from a variety of highly contagious and potentially deadly diseases, such as rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and feline leukemia. By stimulating the immune system to recognize and combat these diseases, vaccines help prevent illness and reduce the severity of any future infections.

🐾Key Benefits of Vaccinating Pets:

🧬Disease Prevention: Vaccines protect pets from serious diseases that can cause severe illness or death.
💲Cost-Effective: Preventing diseases through vaccination is often much more affordable than treating a sick pet.
🦠Community Health: Vaccinated pets help prevent the spread of diseases to other animals and humans, contributing to overall public health.
✅Compliance with Laws: Many local and state regulations require pets to be vaccinated against certain diseases, such as rabies.
☺️Peace of Mind: Knowing your pet is protected allows you to enjoy their companionship without the constant worry of them contracting a preventable disease.

💉Regular vaccinations, as recommended by your veterinarian, are essential for maintaining your pet’s health. Discuss your pet’s lifestyle, environment, and travel habits with your vet to determine the best vaccination schedule for them. By keeping your pets up-to-date on their vaccines, you are taking a proactive step in safeguarding their health and the health of your community.

🐾Are your pets up to date? Give our office a call to schedule an appointment, update your information, or to check on your pets vaccines today! 575-623-9191 🐾
