Happy Caturday, kitty parents!
Brushing your cat is more than just a grooming ritual; it's a vital part of maintaining their health and happiness.
Firstly, this activity strengthens the bond between you and your feline friend, as it offers a moment of connection and trust.
Additionally, regular brushing helps you detect any skin or coat issues early, such as fleas or unusual lumps, allowing for prompt treatment.
It also significantly reduces the occurrence of hairballs, which can be uncomfortable and potentially harmful to your cat’s digestive system.
Lastly, brushing prevents painful matting, especially for long-haired breeds, ensuring your cat stays comfortable and happy.

Happy Monday to all our CAC friends!
We hope this message finds you well and ready to embrace the week with enthusiasm. Have you embarked on a new project or started reading a fresh book? Perhaps you've enrolled in a class? Learning something new is a fantastic way to keep both your mind and body vibrant and healthy. The same principle applies to your furry companions—every day is an opportunity for them to experience something novel.

Let’s make this Monday a springboard for growth and discovery for both you and your pets.

Happy Caturday!
Cats have a unique way of communicating, and understanding their tail language can significantly enhance your relationship with your furry friend. A cat's tail is a versatile tool for expressing emotions. For instance, a tail held high often indicates confidence and contentment, while a low or tucked tail might signal fear or submission. If you notice your cat's tail puffed up, it usually means they're startled or feeling threatened. A tail that sways slowly from side to side suggests curiosity or mild annoyance, whereas rapid swishing might indicate agitation. By observing these subtle signals, you can better interpret your cat's mood and respond appropriately, fostering a deeper bond with your pet.
Enjoy decoding those feline messages! 🐾🐈

Fridays are for friends! 🐾
So let's introduce you to a sweet and silly friend.
Meet Alfie!!
This handsome Frenchie boy was here for his neuter the other day. Alfie looks a bit dazed in this picture, but that's what we all look like after surgery. 🤪
He did so well and honestly is a better man these days after his procedure. He isn't constantly on the lookout for girls and ways to exert his dominance.
He is just a chill fellow with bigger and better things to occupy his time with. Like snuggles with his pet parents and fun at the park.
Save yourself the trouble and spay/neuter your pet. It's the right thing to do.
We can help.

Happy Wellness Wednesday, CAC friends!
Let's take a moment to understand the pressing issue of pet overpopulation and the pivotal role spaying and neutering play in addressing it.
Did you know that around 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. shelters each year, with roughly half being dogs and the other half cats?
This staggering number highlights the urgent need for proactive measures.
Cats, with a gestation period of about two months, can produce up to five litters annually, resulting in potentially 30 kittens every year. Astonishingly, female kittens can become pregnant as early as five months old, exacerbating the cycle.
Sadly, approximately 920,000 shelter animals are euthanized each year due to overpopulation, underscoring the importance of spaying and neutering. By taking this responsible step, you not only improve your pet's health but also contribute to a sustainable solution that benefits your family, community, and the countless animals in need.
Our team is here to support and guide you through this important decision for your beloved fur kids.

Happy Caturday!
Cats are indeed fascinating creatures, and their incredible night vision is just one of their many remarkable abilities. Thanks to a higher number of rod cells in their retinas, cats can see in the dark much better than humans—up to six times better, in fact. This adaptation is crucial for their nocturnal hunting habits.
Additionally, the structure of a cat's eyes, including a reflective layer called the tapetum lucidum, enhances their ability to see in low light by reflecting light back through the retina. This is why their eyes often appear to glow in the dark.
Understanding these unique traits can help us better appreciate and care for our feline friends.

Happy Wellness Wednesday, friends!
Let's dive into ear health maintenance for our furry companions.
The ear canal, with its warm and moist environment, can become a breeding ground for yeast and bacteria, potentially leading to infections. To prevent recurring issues, especially in pets with chronic ear conditions, regular ear cleaning is crucial. After every bath, using a veterinary-recommended ear cleaner can help maintain healthy ears and prevent infections. For pets prone to chronic ear infections, a weekly thorough cleaning and after activities like swimming are essential, ideally using a medicated ear solution. In addition taking control of allergies is a great way to stay ahead of the infections.
If you're looking for personalized recommendations or advice, feel free to reach out to us at 770-993-6329. We're here to help ensure your pets' ears stay healthy and infection-free.

Happy Monday, everyone!
As we kick off the week, let's draw inspiration from the words of the talented Gary Oldman:
"Wanting to be a good actor is not good enough. You must want to be a great actor. You just have to have that."
This sentiment rings true in all aspects of life—dedication and passion are key to achieving greatness. Just like our beloved pets, who never do things halfway. Whether it's chasing a ball, napping, or showering us with affection, they give it their all every single time. Their enthusiasm and unconditional love remind us to commit fully to everything we do, bringing positivity and joy not just to our lives, but to those around us as well. Here’s to a week filled with wholehearted efforts and the happiness that comes with them!

Our Story

Chattahoochee Animal Clinic is a small animal practice in Roswell Georgia that excels in client education and advanced veterinary care. Our veterinarians, Dr. Marcus Smith and Dr Dianne Dawkins, look forward to every interaction with pet parents, as an opportunity to educate them in various veterinary care topics. The CAC team's goal is to create the most educated pet parents in the North Fulton area, which will help promote long and cherished relationships with their pet companions. We provide customized preventative care based on your fur kid’s specific needs.

A big part of what we do is community outreach. We pride ourselves in giving back in any way we can. We visit several schools throughout the year to educate children about pet care and veterinary science. Our heart goes out to the less fortunate and we work closely with several rescue organizations, such as Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, showing support for local organizations like Shamrock’n For the Cure, CDA Toy Drive, working with our friends at Lucky’s Burgers and Brews, Downtown Pooch, just to name a few.

We offer a FREE first exam for anyone who would like to experience the CAC difference. So give us a call today! 770.993.6329
