Pickles is ready for her family and wants you to know!! She doesn’t care if the trend is over, she still thinks it’s kinda chic to adopt and foster senior dogs. Puppies are exhausting.

Senior dogs are overlooked in shelters and rescue at higher rates but seniors are settled, calmer and often learn routines faster. They require less day to day training and exercise making them fantastic options for so many different types of adopters.

Pickles (Freckles at Fulton County Animal Services ) is dog and cat friendly. House trained and comfortable home alone! She is looking for a quieter home environment as loud and busy environments can make her a bit nervous and small kids a bit uneasy. Older kids would probably by ok.

Freckles the senior foster dog had a short stay with a temp foster Cleo & Sebastian in Atlanta, and check out that second photo with her new friend Eleanore 🥹! Just two golden girls.

Here’s the truth, Freckles really needs a home. My own senior dog with DM is struggling and it’s become apparent that having another dog around is causing him more stress. Freckles is a EASIEST dog so it has absolutely nothing to do with her personally. He’s lost is ability to walk and she’s not great at reading his need for space.

Freckles is 13 and checks a lot of boxes
• Dog friendly (young wild dogs may annoy her)
• Cat friendly
• Cuddly (once she trusts you)
Older kids best
• Potty trained - senior bladder 4ish hours
• Comfortable Home Alone

I would love to find her a forever home but if you are interested in fostering you can become approved through Fulton County Animal Services

This isn’t what I want but it’s what we need. I’ve sacrificed Rodger’s wellbeing for long enough and sending her back to the shelter is the absolute last resort. She’s been here 7 months and she deserves to spend her days being the queen of her castle.

Freckles arrived at Fulton County Animal Services as a stray on Dec 4th, 2025. She was in bad shape. But she had a microchip that told the shelter she was 13 years old. She had a family. They didn’t come for her. We don’t know why.

After a few weeks with a temporary foster I took her in on January 16th. Since then with gentle and patient care she’s blossomed. She’s such a fun, loving, sweet and easy dog.

Exactly 0 people have reached out to meet her. I’ve spoken to so many people about her. She wears a her “adopt me” gear. Makes friends on walks, yet there is no interest.

Freckles needs forever home. Forever family. Seniors deserve this as much as a puppy in a shelter.

Keep Your Pups Safe This Summer! ☀️

We love seeing your dogs run, swim and splash at our Sniffspot , but midday sun can turn pool decks into a hazard. Dogs sweat through their paws and pant to cool down, making them highly susceptible to hot surfaces and heat exhaustion.

Tips to keep your session safe and fun for your pooch at our peaceful paradise:

The Pavement Hazard 🚫
* Check the Pads: Keep an eye out for redness or irritation on your dog’s paws.
* Take Breaks: Limit excessive running on the cement and head to the shaded areas frequently if your dog isn’t swimming!
* Cool It Down: Feel free to use the hose on-site to wet down the hot concrete before your dog walks on it (wet cament can also become hot quickly❗️)

🚨 Recognizing Heat Stroke
Dogs can overheat quickly. Watch for these warning signs:
* Heavy, rapid panting or thick drooling
* Bright red or very pale gums
* Weakness, confusion, or trouble walking
* Vomiting, diarrhea, collapse, or seizures (requires immediate emergency care)

⏱️ Act Fast: Emergency Steps
If you notice your dog struggling:
1. Move to the shade immediately.
2. Offer small sips of cool water (do not force it).
3. Cool them down with a damp cloth on their body.
4. Call the vet.

How dare we allow other dogs to enjoy the yard, pool and woods they only use a few times a day?! Rodger is just upset it takes away from his balcony barking time 😂

But it’s so worth it to know so many pups can get some quality time with their humans! My dogs and fosters also love to go sniff all of the information the visitors leave behind! Checking the p*e mail all day long.

Be sure to come see us at and if you feel like you’re being watched- it’s a creepy dog not humans.
