Students of all ages come to us with diverse backgrounds and ability levels. Whether they have physical, cognitive, sensory or emotional disabilities, they benefit from riding and working with the horses at our center. For children and adults with disabilities, the equestrian experience is life-changing. No other therapeutic recreational opportunity benefits so many aspects of a disability in such

a holistic way. Bright Star students have competed in a variety of shows for riders with special needs, as well as open, able-bodied horse shows. Our lesson horses are retired show horses that have experience in all classes. Classes are offered in a variety of disciplines: English and Western, including pleasure, trail and showmanship.

Sweet JW joined our program back in April so this was his first SO competition experience with Leah. They rocked it with gold medals in walk/trot/ lope & canter classes: Trail, Western Equitation, & English Equitation! We keep pushing Leah to work through new challenges with new horses, and she keeps working hard to achieve her goals. So very proud of her!!

I love when our horses get the opportunity to partner with athletes from other counties! Let’s face it—things don’t always go as planned when it comes to horses, and we’re blessed to be able to help each other out when the need arises. I’m so very proud of Stephanie from Forsyth County who rocked showmanship, trail, and western equitation with Tator and Kasey from Dare County who shined with Tucker in Showmanship!! Way to show off those horsemanship skills!
