At our veterinary hospital, we believe that good nutrition is the foundation of good health for your furry friend. The food that your pet eats is the fuel that powers their body, and it affects everything from their energy levels to their coat quality.Proper nutrition is especially important for pets who have specific health conditions, such as diabetes or allergies. In these cases, a specialized diet can make all the difference in managing their condition and improving their quality of life.

But even if your pet doesn't have any specific health concerns, feeding them a high-quality diet is still essential. It can help to prevent obesity, dental problems, and other health issues that can arise from poor nutrition.

At our veterinary hospital, we offer a range of services to help you ensure that your pet is getting the nutrition they need. Our veterinarians can provide expert advice on choosing the right food for your pet, taking into account their age, breed, and any health issues they may have. We can also recommend supplements and other products to support your pet's overall health.

So if you're looking to give your pet the best possible start in life, make sure to prioritize their nutrition. Contact us today to learn more about our pet nutrition services and how we can help you keep your furry friend happy and healthy for years to come.

As a veterinary office, our primary focus is always on the well-being of our furry patients. However, every once in a while, we receive a surprise that reminds us of the positive impact we have on our clients as well.Recently, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a beautiful bouquet of flowers from one of our clients.

Receiving these flowers was a heartwarming experience for all of us at the veterinary office. It reminded us of the meaningful connections we form with our clients and the importance of the work we do.

As veterinary professionals, we often encounter challenging cases and difficult decisions. However, receiving this thoughtful gesture helped us remember the joy and fulfillment that comes with helping animals and their human companions.

We are grateful for the trust our clients place in us and we will continue to strive to provide the best care possible for their furry family members. Thank you to all of our wonderful clients for the opportunity to care for your pets – your appreciation means the world to us!

Why do we do bloodwork every year? - For your pet's health and early detection for diseases.
Routine bloodwork of younger pets provides a baseline of their normal values and may identify hidden illnesses.

Older pets benefit from semi-annual or annual bloodwork based off their specific circumstances and your veterinarian's recommendations. Annual bloodwork can help your veterinarian identify illness and disease that is not physically visible when looking at your pet.

This is important because every year, your veterinarian will compare the bloodwork and ensure that your pet is as healthy as can be.

Let's talk about kidneys!Kidneys are an important part of filtering out waste. When this function is compromised it falls into two categories:
- Acute kidney injury
- Chronic kidney disease (CKD)

Why should I care about kidney disease?
It is estimated that over 1 in 3 cats and 1 in 10 dogs will develop kidney disease in their lifetime. Therefore, early detection is best!

What causes CKD?
Kidney stones, infections, including Lyme disease, toxins, injuries, generic abnormalities, cancer, and other factors.

How will I know if my pet has kidney disease?
Routine screening will help identify kidney disease. Changes in your pet's behavior, urination defecation and eating and drinking habits can be indicators or kidney disease.

What does that mean?
The good news is that CKD can be treated and managed with the help of your veterinarian. Changes in diet and the right medication can help your pet live happily after being diagnosed with a good quality of life.

Dogs typically are legally required to be leashed in public areas. It's important to leash train your dog from a young age.

Is it possible to train an older dog? Yes! The process can take a little longer since you will likely have to undo some bad habits your dog picked up along the way. BUT a little patience goes a long way.

Getting a no-pull harness will help keep your pet safe and avoid putting strain on your pet's neck.

Steps on leash training your dog:
- Get them acclimated to their leash
- Teach them to sit when leash is out
- Teach them to refrain from chewing the leash
- Work on heelwork with them

Schedule a consultation with us if leash training is something you're struggling with.
