🌟 TPLO TUESDAY🌟

This week we are highlighting Duraprep and Ioban!

🧡 Duraprep is a sterile iodine antiseptic we use to clean the surgical site. It creates an antimicrobial shield that keeps working for up to 48 hours after it's applied! So while it looks a little silly, it's doing a very important job.

✨ Ioban is the final step to ensure each patient is prepped properly for surgery. Ioban is a special adhesive surgical drape that's infused with bacteria-killing power. It sticks to the skin around the incision, constantly killing bacteria and creating a sterile barrier.

Duraprep and Ioban together significantly reduce the risk of surgical site infections. They are the ultimate dream team for patient safety!

Its time for another 🚨TPLO Tuesday🚨

We’re talking about the ✨Anesthesia Monitor✨

Arguably the most important tool for surgery, the monitor provides continuous data on heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, body temperature, and carbon dioxide levels to ensure the patient is within safe parameters from start to finish. Just like most things in medicine, there is a range for each measurement and allows for each patient to have personalized protocol that works best for them!

🩺TPLO TUESDAY🐾

We’re diving into the details of the Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO), a highly effective surgical procedure to treat Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) injuries in dogs.

This week: Drill and Screws - Imagine your drill at home, but it’s a bit more glamorous. It allows us to drill holes into the bone to secure the plate with surgical screws. Listen along as Chelsey dives into this very important tool for surgery!

As we wrap up this series, we want to introduce Chelsey, LVT!

Chelsey has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) since 2013. Being an LVT means that she graduated an accredited veterinary technician program, passed a national board exam, and a state exam. Keeping her license current requires her to attend continuing education conferences every year!

Meet Tucker, a brave 8-year-old Border Collie! We recently visited him at Robinson Drive Animal Hospital, for the removal of two growths. After his procedure, we’re thrilled to report that both growths were benign and completely removed.

Tucker and his loving family are back to their active lifestyle and happy as ever! ❤️

🦴TPLO TUESDAY🐾

It’s that time again! This week, we want to highlight sterilization of our TPLO surgical packs. There are multiple ways to sterilize these instruments like steam sterilization (shown in this video) or gas sterilization.

Sterilization isn’t just a protocol — it’s a cornerstone of surgical success.
Every instrument, from saw blades to implants, must be 100% sterile to protect the patient, prioritize bone healing, and ensure the long-term stability of the repair.
