Blinder than a bat, happier than a clam. 😻

Thana had her double enucleation and spay today. No more teeny, j***y eyeballs to bother her! And this means that Thana is officially looking for her forever home. She adores people and has been around dogs and cats. Because she can sometimes redirect on people when a cat surprise attacks and a human tries to intervene, she would be best in an adult only home or a as single kitty. Despite being visually impaired her whole life, she gets around great! She is still learning how to get down stairs and off the high places she climbs, so a family who can provide extra kitty proofing for her safety is essential. Interested in meeting this darling girl? 🚨FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED🚨.

Meet Thana! This darling blind baby is being fostered by a phenomenal rescuer and vet tech in Corsicana. Unfortunately, the shelter there lacks funds, so Thana is unable to get the vet care she needs which is a double enucleation. has offered to take her in, BUT we need a foster or foster to adopter who can care for Thana through her surgery. CKCF is committed to covering the cost of her care, if we can find placement for her. She’s been around kids and other kitties. As a former bottle baby, she’s very adept at being handled and loves people!

Unfortunately, the ~$1/month I make from posting here does not cover my basic needs, so unless I can make a living doing rescue or am given more hours in a day, I cannot take on any added responsibilities.

Pivoting on these special cases can be tough when you’re in rescue.

And Chomps is one of those cases. After working diligently for months to save his stump and being 97% recovered, we could not get that final 3% to heal. We contacted prosthetics makers and consulted veterinary experts. Despite having conflicting opinions, I had to make the difficult choice to amputate Chomps’ stump. Thankfully, he’s doing great as a tripod and even has a tripod sister. Even though he didn’t get the outcome we were hoping for with the stump, I’m ultimately grateful that he is alive and thriving. Go follow his lil tripod household !
