Beginning steps of teaching our dogs commands!
Maverick has a history of extreme freak out to guests entering the house, barking and expressing his anal glands. A big goal for his family has been to get him to a much calmer position where they can have guests over without him being so stressed out and overwhelmed.
Take a look at this video from one of our guest visit sessions. You’ll see him slightly react once the guest gets a few steps in by stepping of the bed, but I can quickly get him back onto the bed and then direct him back into his down to encourage calm.
His state of mind is most certainly in a much calmer and less stressed state, exactly what we’re looking for.
Curious what a typical day here for a board and train dog looks like? Take a look!
✨✨
Exact events will vary day to day depending on the amount of dogs here, if I have any lessons that day, etc. but in general, this is what an average day here looks like!
We do plenty of active and passive work getting dogs the “real life” practice they need!
Guest work! 🏠
These boys both got some work with guest entrance and exit protocol. We ask for “place” when guests enter and leave to keep the calm and prevent any rushing them as soon as they cross the threshold.
Thank you to AC Squared LLC for being our guest!

Gunnar and a Stranger!
Gunnar got some practice today being handled by a stranger. This is a big thing for him as new people (especially if they try to handle him) really stress him out! He did amazing at staying calm and following directions!
Thank you AC Squared LLC for coming to help us out and being a stranger for Gunnar!
Confidence Building 💥
Dog training is so much more than just teaching commands, it’s about molding a dogs mind into a more confident and calm state of being. There are lots of ways to build a dogs confidence, here we’re using the treadmill to do so.
Notice when each of the dogs struggle and are anxious, rather than let them give into those feelings of “the treadmill is going to kill me!”, I show them they are okay and can conquer it, by not giving them the opportunity to escape. I lead them through the things that seem scary, rather than coddle them and shut the treadmill off at the slightest sign of discomfort.
The next time you find something that makes your dog uncomfortable, rather than let them escape the situation, show them they are okay by working them through it!! ✨
Bella practiced weaving through dogs and resisting distraction!
Does your dog rush out the door any chance they get? Do you want peace of mind that you can open any door without having to worry your dog will take off?
These boys here have learned to wait at any threshold until they are allowed through. We want to help you teach your dog the same manners! Shoot us a message to learn how!
