Newborn at home so the dog has to go .
For those who give up their dogs when they have a baby, I'm posting this photo of a family whose 15-year-old Jack Russel Terrier is treated as one of the children (because he was their first child) and who is the protector of his two human brothers and sisters.
Never use the excuse that you had to let your dog go because you have a baby in the family and the doctor advised you blah blah blah and other lame excuses.
Never abandon your pets. They are family 😍

Good Morning,
The 8 week bull calf is Jonah. 21" at birth.

The yearling bull wearing a halter is Jonah's FULL brother Lazarus. HE was 15 months old in this photo....Lazarus went to WV in October.. His owners are smitten with him...
The adult bull is 5.5yo 38" HCC Mocha and sire to Jonah and Lazarus. I am smitten with Mocha... .He is and has been mine since he was 6 months of age. Could write a book on just his agreeable disposition alone.. Bravo Hidden Cattle Cove.

The cow is 4 yo 36.5" Oak Creek's Rachel. She is dam to Jonah and Lazarus. Rachel is a high producer, crazy intelligent and sweet with a sprinkle of sass. She was born here to my sweet Sarah and Ivan.

Jonah has another Full brother who abides in TX....sadly I do not have any utd photos of him...but he was the spitting image of Lazarus when he left here...
It is safe to say Jonah is cookie cutter #3.

Jonah is A1A2 by birth.
He is polled...
When testing is done I'll know if herto or homo polled along with milk proteins and confirmation he is A1A2.

Jonah is available and will be ready for his own herd in March 2024...
He will be registered with the AMJA&R, halter broke, disease tested and have health papers included in his reasonable (word you can't say on f b).
I can provide references of clients and veternarians.

Wrestled Abigail this morning and put a halter on her...Hannah does not know what to make of her best Buddy being tied.
Abigail is being very good and not fighting but has yet to relax.

Cindi has been on BioEz since early March this year...She has gone from a body score of 3.5 to a 5...Our goal is 6.5 before Winter..
I'm very pleased with her weight gain. She only gets 2lbs of senior fee a day, no hay as long as there is good pasture. She is on turn out 24/7. Not only has her body improved my pushy lead mare is back as well.. Cindi is a registered 15:3 Ky Mt Horse who turned 29 this past June. She has been with me since she was 12. Prescious mare.

Sarah her dam has been throughly frustrated with her all day...Abigail Zooming around the pasture, not staying where she was put, Sarah having to go on a hunt for her then calling to me to do something about it. Well this is a first for Oak Creek Farm...
2 heifers born on on the same day I only have 5 breeding cows and we are 3 for 3 so far this year...
Ruth had a heifer this morning...Ruth has on a blue collar and her baby is up and about ..
Sarah had her calf 15 minutes ago....Yes that is Ruth checking Sarah's baby out....This bitty is still wet. I knew the girls were very close but not 6 hours close...
Now I have to come up with 2 names...Praising Father for for 2 healthy heifers!!!....
Mocha gets extra butt scratches to night too...He is a very protective dad...got tickled at him....he bowed his head and rolled his eyes at me in warning me to not to get to close...I love this bull...If all human males were half the father and mate he is our nation would not be falling apart...

These 2 guys filled my heart so full of joy today...Chance, The little black one is about 18 months old...Saved from a slaughter trailer at around 3 to 5 months...dont know exactly how old he is....
The spoted TWH Mitch is 10 years old and the most sensitive horse Ive evern known...They are my youngest horses...Well handled but I need to spend more training time with both....
Withe extreme temperatures they needed to be blanketed...Mitch has had a blanket on before, once about 7 years ago...Chance had never seen a blanket...I had been introing tarps and both are not afraid of them...It was after dark last night and i knew better to attempt to blanket either one in the dark ..The both have healthy coats and good wind blocked shelters...made sure they had a hot meal and oodles of hay...They were fine over night...So about noon today I tackled the job of introing a blanket to Chance...Oh My! he was sooo good.. once he smelled it up and tasted it he stood like a pro as I rubbed it on him then unfolded it and laid it on his back..Then in about 2 minutes i had it buckled and adjusted...Chance acted as if we had done this 100 times...I am soo proud of him..once i removed his halter and set him free he just stood there exploring his new duds.
Mitch just showed me what a pro he is at blanketing, this was just the second time in 10 years...memory like a steel trap...When I finished and set him free he swung his head around so we were nose to nose then took his muzzle and rubbed my cheek 3 times saying "Thank you mom, I love you". yeah I was tearing up...he had never done that before..
update...today Mitch hugged me for he first time.

The calf, Queen Esther is one I bred and raised to 5 months of age. (OC's Sarah, 38" x HCC Mocha, 38") That priceless smile belongs to a client's daughter.. Those eyes and that smile makes what I do worth all the pitching manure, and stacking hay.
Client says Esther and their daughter are "2 peas in a pod"..both are sassy girls..lol...love love love It!! Looking forward to seeing those blue 4H ribbons!!

Living the dream, livestock and poultry....mini Jersey cows, ky mt and rocky mt horses with a TWH thrown in for good measure. Oh also to many German Shepherd dogs with 1 WolfHound for diversity.

We were attending a community picnic beside the Green River and my number was drawn for one of the door prizes...hubby was dipping ice cream with the local volunteer fire department. It was fun...

8 weeks come Labor day...
Lazarus is already showing signs of being a stud muffin like his full brother Zaccheaus who now lives in Texas.
Laz will be looking for girls of his own in early January...
He is a1a2, Hetro polled and has very good milk genetics. He was 20" at birth.
Dam is 35" ....sire 38"
His dam is a heavy producer.
Both parents have excellent dispositions.

Welcome Jacob to OCF...
I am no angel but he is one heck of a wrestler. Dilly almost had him dried off when i got to them...in getting him out of the pasture and to the barn i found out what i am made of, or should I say what i am not made of... He was born around 6:15 tonight, he was up on his own and nursing by 7:15... and that was after be wore me out wrestling a quarter of a mile to the barn.....big healthy STRONG boy.

We have added a new family member....meet Patches, Nigerian Dwarf buck. He is so sweet...he is 12 inches tall...about 8 months old.
He and Dozer are learning to be friends...
We took a trip to see Dr. Wells today because Patches has a slight cough. After a dose of newflor and a drama adventure Patches should be all patched up. He is sooo tiny, 26lbs.
