Training is a great way to bond with your dog and keep their mind active. Letting dogs do thinking activities actually helps to keep them quieter than just exercise.

Lily came in the beginning of the week for her post dental recheck and was dressed to celebrate the new year!
Dental health is very important. The average adult dog has 42 teeth and adult cat 30 teeth. Tartar buildup on the teeth can lead to gum recession which, if left unattended can lead to pockets around tooth roots and infections. These can in turn lead to loosening teeth and ultimately tooth loss. Regular tooth care at home in addition to having routine dentals performed by a veterinarian can keep teeth strong.
Unhealthy teeth that go without treatment can cause discomfort that can affect eating and daily activity. Bacteria from unhealthy teeth can cause damage to organs such as heart, kidneys, and liver.
People often worry about their pet having multiple extractions but removing unhealthy teeth can make them feel so much better!
Dr. DiBoot can provide further information about dental health during wellness exams, feel free to ask questions!

Pet owners are often in quandary about feeding their pets. Many investigate making food themselves. Cooking for your pet is possible and, in some cases, can actually be better for the pet. It is extremely important that anyone wanting to do this starts by meeting with a veterinarian that has been trained in nutrition who can prepare a diet formulated for the pet's specific needs to ensure proper nutrition is in place.

Our own Dr. DiBoot has such nutritional training. If you were interested in doing this please schedule an appointment to discuss the possibility for your pet with Dr. DiBoot, or ask her at your next wellness exam!

Welcoming Dr. DiBoot

Dr. Danielle DiBoot and her husband, Matt, are the proud new owners of Rowley Animal Hospital! Dr. DiBoot has over 15 years of experience in the veterinary field and significant experience treating not only dogs and cats, but exotic animals, including parrots, chickens and other poultry, reptiles and amphibians, and small mammals, like rabbits and guinea pigs. The DiBoots are originally from Sudbury, Massachusetts and have spent the last 5 years in central Florida. They moved home to Massachusetts to pursue practice ownership and are excited to get to know the families and their pets of the North Shore.

Dr. Marilyn Hayes and her husband, Steve, ran the Rowley Animal Hospital for almost 30 years and Dr. DiBoot and Matt are keeping the tradition of a family run hospital alive in a time many hospitals are selling to large corporations. The DiBoots are on a mission to treat their clients and pets like family! Come on down to Rowley Animal Hospital and meet Dr. DiBoot and Matt!
