☀️As the warmer weather arrives, we’re seeing an influx of kittens in need of love, care, and support. These little ones often need around-the-clock care, especially if they’re too young to be adopted yet. That’s where you come in!

We’re 🚨urgently🚨 seeking foster homes for our kittens and nursing mamas! Whether you can provide a temporary home for a single kitten or a whole litter, your support will make a world of difference. As a foster, you’ll help socialize the kittens, ensure they get the care they need, and watch them grow into healthy, adoptable pets! 🩷

What’s involved?
* Temporary care for kittens (all supplies provided)
* Socializing and feeding the kittens until they’re ready for adoption
* Regular updates and support from our team

🌟 Our Adoption Area is Full, and Lives Are at Risk 🌟

We have so many wonderful dogs here at the shelter, all of them deserving a second chance at a forever home. But we’re at capacity, and we have more waiting to move up... but we can’t do that without your help.

🐕Meet Blu and Sheba — these two have been with us for nearly two months, and we’re heartbroken that they haven’t found their families yet. Unfortunately, we can’t bring in more dogs until some of our current pets are adopted, rescued, or fostered.

💔 The reality is, without more space, we might have to make the devastating decision to euthanize to save others. We don’t want that. We believe every life matters, and with your support, we can give these dogs the future they deserve.

Some of our dogs are starting to show signs of kennel stress from being in a shelter environment for too long. The stress of living in a kennel is taking a toll on their mental and physical well-being, and we need to act quickly to get them into loving homes or foster care.

Here's how you can help:

March 23rd was National Puppy Day!

🐾 The Puppy Crisis in Shelters 🐾
Did you know that around 3.3 million dogs enter U.S. shelters every year, and about half of them are puppies? Puppies often make up 25-30% of shelter populations, especially during peak seasons like spring and summer! 🐶

The stray puppy situation is a significant global issue, with millions of dogs, including puppies, living on the streets. Efforts to manage and reduce the stray dog population largely focus on spaying and neutering, rescue operations, and encouraging responsible pet ownership. However, the problem persists and requires continued awareness and action across communities worldwide! 🌎

While puppies are highly adoptable, shelters are still facing overcrowding, and many young pups are in need of loving homes! 🏡

Let’s help raise awareness and encourage responsible pet adoption to give these puppies the homes they deserve. Every little bit counts! 💙

🐾 Join Us for a dog walking event in honor of National Take a Walk In The Park Day! 🐾

Looking for a fun way to get some exercise while spending time with your furry friend? 🐕 Come out and join us and Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks for our Tails On The Trails event! Whether you're walking solo or with your pup, it's a great way to get moving, meet other dog lovers, and enjoy the outdoors!

New UPDATE! APS of Person Animal Protection Society of Person County & Cozy Pet Mobile Veterinary Care will be joining us for a FREE microchip clinic at the park!

Here are their guidelines:
* 2 pets per household
* Dogs must be leashed and not aggressive
* Proof of rabies vaccine required (bring your rabies cert)

📅 Date: March 30th
🕒 Time: 9:00-12:00
📍 Location: Mayo Lake Park - Meeting point will be at the Educational Center
👟 Route: Wood Duck Trail (1 Mile) & Wild Turkey Trail (1/2 Mile)

✨ What to Expect:
* A fun and casual walk with fellow dog lovers
* Socialize and meet other pups
* Refreshments for both humans and dogs 🦴
* Tips on dog walking and training
* Great way to promote fitness and well-being for you and your dog 🏃‍♀️

Starting May 1st, we’re updating our hours to better serve our community. To allow more adoptions and reclaims, we will be extending our hours from Tuesday through Saturday. As part of this change, we will be closed on Mondays.

☀️🐾 Taking advantage of this beautiful day, our Placement & Program Coordinator Laura took one of our adoptable dogs named Jameson out for a walk at the lake! It was the perfect opportunity to get him out to enjoy some fresh air, go for a ride, stretch his legs, get away from the kennels, and show off how amazing he is! 🐾☀️

Jameson is still looking for his forever home and would love to meet you! He is the perfect combination of active and snuggly and will make someone a wonderful companion 💖 We have many others just like him as well, come to the shelter to meet with them!

🐾 A Heartwarming Thank You to Roxboro Community School! 🐾

We are beyond grateful for the incredible generosity of the students at Roxboro Community School! Over the past few weeks, these amazing middle schoolers held a school-wide donation drive to support our shelter, and today, Miss Albachten and representatives from RCS came by to deliver the donations in person. 💖

Not only did they collect food and supplies for our shelter, but they also went above and beyond by creating adoption and goody bags for our dogs and cats. 🐶🐱 And as a special surprise, they made treat bags as a thank you for our hard-working staff! 🎁✨

Your thoughtful donations and kindness have truly made a difference, and we couldn’t be more thankful! Thank you, Bulldogs, for your support and for spreading love to both our furry friends and the humans who care for them. 🐾❤️
