Everyone got blackberry canes for forage today. Also, clearly my rabbits are terrified of me as evidenced by the extreme close ups. 🤭 We'll be building Phoebe her nesting box tomorrow, but we won't put it in until we're closer to her due date.

Moved the little dudes out in the tractor. I love that I can raise rabbits just by using my lawn to feed them. Well, at least until snow covers the ground.

We are so sadly disconnected from the food chain as a society. Or really, the whole entire cycle of life and death itself. Growing more of my own food and relying less and less on stores is so important to me.

I dispatched and butchered my first rabbit today, and it feels SO GOOD to be able to provide for my family. It was instant and painless for her, and incredibly easy for me. It took me much longer than expected and I had a few mishaps, but I'll definitely get better and faster each time. All parts used, nothing wasted.

I definitely need to get a proper setup with a real gambrel, and some better knives. Can't wait for Sunday nights supper. 🤤

Now that Jolene has hit maturity, that sweet, cuddly bunny is gone, and replaced by a raging, aggressive bitch. 😬 So, change of plans, if she's not bred within a month, she's going to the crockpot, and I'll find another doe. Meanwhile, Rubble has become an absolute sweetheart. He got loose twice, and both times, hopped right back over to me to be caught.

Look at those bright red combs! They'll be laying very soon. 😊 Millie and Moxie are a few months younger, so still have a while for them to start.

Rabbit tractor/grow out pen frame done. Unfortunately, I don't have everything I need, so it's put off until I can order parts. 😅

Two full wheelbarrows of shavings and p**p shoveled, fresh new bedding put down, now I'm planning to paint the hardware cloth black so I can see in there better, and change the roosting bars around. 😅

I just raked out the chicken coop last week, and it already looks like they had a feather pillow fight in here again. I hate molting season. 😒

Posting these one more time before I hit the livestock groups. Looking to trade for 💲, a rabbit cage, saplings/seedlings, ect. Fully feathered and off heat, also toddler tamed, lol.
