The girls are so sweet 🥰

The black one pictured here was a ball of anxiety and alligator rolls in the beginning of it all 😅
I've seen them regularly now for over a year i believe, and they're both happy to see me when i get there. They lie down so nicely for their trims and no more anxiety over anything, and my favorite is when they want loves afterwards too ❤️

It's not always pretty starting out, but there's always a goal were working towards. I love all the success stories🥰

This sweet girl was super timid for my first visit. Takes her a while to trust new people. I've only been here a handful of times now, but we're proud of her on this one - today she let me pet her and start trimming while she was laying down without mom holding her ❤️ (Even though she made sure to stare at mom the whole time😂)

Even the littlest improvements can be big 😅

We have a routine. She gives me the look of shame when I get there, mom holds her while i trim, then she gets put back down and I walk with her over to her throne where I tuck her back in. It's a good system 😂

Welcome to the wet weather post again! Here we go:

These photos are of a goat I see regularly, right around 8wks each trim. Depending on their breed, ground conditions and activity - 8wks tends to be a normal time frame between trims for most to keep healthy feet so we can catch things that may need treatment.

HOOF ROT is a big problem here in the PNW. Not only do we have a lot of wet weather, creating bacteria for these guys to step in & collect in their feet... but many owners don't have a shelter or dry area for their goats to be in often enough. This makes it so the hoof stays soft and collects more mud and bacteria in "pockets" that I get to trim out each time.

Take note: having a shelter with bedding, and locking them in at night seems to be the best option for many to maintain healthy hooves! So if you're able, make that happen 😅 If not, just gotta be prepared to potentially have to treat hoof rot and other issues the weather may throw your way.

MITES are also an issue. These goats don't have any of course, but figured I'd add it to my seasonal WATCH FOR THIS list. You can look up what "mite legs" look like on goats. They lose hair, the legs can be hot/warmer to touch, and they are not so happy about me picking up and messing with the leg area when they have mites. Treat your babies for the bugs! Deworm as you're supposed to, make sure they're looked over often ❤️
