"Some horses are just like that"

No. No they're not.

Whether it's their posture or their behaviour. There will be a reason why they are looking the way they look or acting the way they act.

Fobbing someone off with "that's just how they are" is taking away any agency for them to make better decisions for their horse.

Instead we need to be braver in facing the fact that, even with our very best intentions, we have a direct impact on our horse's wellbeing and we have choices that we can make to positively or negatively impact that.

The right choice might be incongruent with our goals.

Or they might be a reflection of "the best I did at the time with the information/resources I had."

But taking ownership of that signals that you are there for your horse in more than just what your horse provides to you.
